What's funny to me is...nobody is giving Dirrell to much of a chance to defeat Froch based on he's too green and hasn't fought anyboby ,etc, etc. but before Froch beat Taylor and Pascal....who did Froch beat to beat considered so world class now?Now I give credit where credit is due...but let's be fair here.Froch beat Pascal(great fight, good job), then goes on to fight Taylor..now for 7 rounds Froch got out-boxed by Taylor (before gassing as usual), then Froch takes the next 4 rounds before getting the Ko with :15 sec. left(good job) Now, I'am not hating on Froch because I enjoy his fights and dude works hard. And,I bet on him to win by KO against JT:smoke...but come on the man was getting out-boxed by JT(****ing JT-Biggest HBO hypejob)and was down on 2 jugdes scorecards before he got the stoppage. But nonetheless,he got the job done and stepped his game up.But before these 2 fights was Froch still "green"?

My whole point is....EVERY man gotta step it sooner or later and get out of the "green" stage...

Depends on what you mean by "green". Froch had been in against good competition, including ex champ Robin Reid. The Taylor fight was a below par performance for Froch and I wouldn't put too much store in it as a yardstick. Still, when Froch had to pull out the stops being behind on the cards he upped his game and found a way to win. If the question you're asking is "had Froch been in against better competition than Dirrell has before he went for a title shot" I'd say a definite yes. Having said that, as you rightly say, every man has to step it up sometime and there is nothing to say Dirrell isn't capable of raising his game beyond what we have seen so far. That's the beauty of this tournament, there are a lot of unknowns and everyone has a shot!

I have no doubt in my mind that Dirrell will rise to the occasion.

Froch is a good fighter but the guy is far too robotic to beat somebody as slick and fast and athletic as Dirrell.

Dirrell is not Pascal, Direll is not Taylor, Dirrell is far more effective than both of those fighters and Jermain Taylor fights like he is nervous, Dirrell doesn't he is slicker and he uses distance and he has been able to put his opponents in defensive mode due to his speed and counter punching. Curtis Stevens was afraid to let his hands go and when he did he ate gloves for his trouble. He shut Stevens out and took away the mans best asset, power.

He is not going to go into the Froch fight and fly straight into him, he will use distance and Froch will have to come inside and when he tries to come inside Froch will be eating punches like M & M's.

If Froch pushes the pace early, Dirrell is very good at making the other guy stop throwing punches because Froch is going to find out that everytime he goes to punch Dirrell, Dirrell will hit him clean once or 2 twice and then move off to the side and then Froch will try to follow him and stalk him and end up taking more than he bargained, I dont understand why everybody is picking Froch. He is tough but I am not convinced by that win over Taylor or Pascal so if he beats Dirrell convincingly by stoppage then all the respect to him, but he wont because I see Dirrell boxing him and actually I can see Froch being the one worn out down the stretch not Dirrell.

Intriguing encounter, I stand by my prediction 100%, Dirrell to win.

Nothing to do with Dirrell being 'too green'. It's mainly due to the fact he's just not good enough.

I don't think that Froch can beat Pascal or Taylor the second time around ... he was exposed against Taylor, it was just Taylor ran out of gas. Pascal didnt fight his type of fight against Froch, he was sucked into a slugfest ... and i'm 100% confident that Pascal will outbox Froch is given a shot to fight him at 175.

I'm going to question Froch's speed, ability, and overall defense. He gets hit too much and doesn't have much speed. One thing that I can't knock on Froch is that he can box ... he doesn't seem like it but just like Margarito, these walking tree trunks can box ... and they're willing and ready to be exposed.

Can you imagine Froch beating Librado Andrade or A Lucien Bute or a Bernard Hopkins?

The reason I ask you this is because Froch could have fought either of those who in my opinion would of been equally as tough for Froch to win but he chose Taylor and something tells me that whenever British fighters are so overconfident like that then there has got to be something up.

Froch chose Taylor because it is a fact that Taylor has stamina troubles in the 2nd phase of fights and it is a fact that Froch is a strong finisher so put the 2 together and you got a weakness to exploit. It was a winnable fight for Froch and I betted on him to win and he did, just about but that fight was more about Taylor inefficiencies to fight the full 12 than Froch's ability at world level so taking all of that into consideration we have an unknown quantity in Andre Dirrell who is being seen as Green. I dont care how Green you think he is, he is going to put on a show and box Froch smartly and I can see Froch getting Frustrated with Dirrell and trying to cut off the ring to pin him down or into a corner but I see Dirrell sharp countering Froch all night and wearing down Froch. Dirrell uses the fundamentals of boxing in the same way Devon Alexander does, everything is worked off the jab and Dirrell wont be swingly wildly unless he sees that there is a clear target to aim for and because of Froch's low hand stance Froch will be getting hit alot more than what he bargained for. Dirrell will keep Froch away using his Jab and as soon as Froch opens up he will be getting countered and I can see a UD for Dirrell or a TKO if he is able to soften up Froch early enough and to jump on him when he is hurt.

Thank you Detroit. Finally someone is talking some sense here. Before Liston vs Clay, everyone was saying Clay only had 20 fights on his record, and the only recognizable name on it was a 46 year-old Archie Moore. Then after he KO'd liston, he suddenly became the boxing master of the world. The same thing is happening to Dirrell.

Some people think a boxer's record says everything about him, but with young fighters you have to go on what you see on video. How can Dirrell possibly have a good fight record at his young age?

A real "expert" sees talent in a boxer before he actually wins his first big fight. The guys who picked Clay to beat Liston are real experts.

It's obvious to me that Andre Dirrell has better speed, footwork, and head movement than Carl Froch. I'm going with Dirrell by KO.

And to those who say Dirrell doesn't have KO power, I'll remind you that he KO'd Anthony Hanshaw in 5, something Roy Jones couldn't do in 12. Dirrell has incredible pop, and he hits you so many times that you become dizzy and find you are unable to defend yourself. Like a spider who has trapped his prey, Dirrell then moves in for the kill.

Yes, Yes, No. Froch tried to get a fight with Bute FFS. Froch fought Taylor because he could. Taylor was Frochs mandatory and it would have looked very bad if Taylor had avoided him (which looked like it was going to happen for a while!) Was nothing to do with Froch looking to fight Taylor because he had stamina issues!

Fitz you won my full respect after you called the Mosley vs Margarito fight down to a T so I got alot of faith in Dirrell and I also think that you are right in your assessment. I think we both see the same fight unfolding in our minds with regards to Froch vs Dirrell and the only way I see Froch winning is if Dirrell does not fight his own fight. He needs to stick to his gameplan and just wait for his moment. The 1st 4 rounds could look like a stand off with neither guy wanting to fly in or commit but I do see Froch trying to press the action a little bit but I am certain that he would rather play the counter puncher and sucker Dirrell into something but Dirrell is too smart for all that. He will use similar tactics to the Curtis Stevens fight and I must be the only person on here who appreciated Dirrells performance in that fight. I am a fan of the pure boxer aswell as the brawlers, but pure boxers do it for me so I have to go with the pure boxer in this fight which is Dirrell. Dirrell will find that chin on numerous occasions. Lets see how good Froch's chin is after 6 rounds of artillery being landed on it.

I think that Dirrell will tee off on Froch from the begining and make Froch look very slow ... i'm sure that towards the end of the fight (If Andre doesn't get over confident) that he could go for the stoppage.

One thing that throws people off their game plan is getting hit ... you practice for a certain type of fighter and you train for a certain type of style but once you get hit your game plan goes out the window.

Based on the way Jermain had Froch looking, there's no doubt in my mind that Andre won't do the same and maybe worse ... the question is whether Dirrell will stick to the game plan, will he get over confident and not respect Froch ...

    What some ****ing bull****.
Taylor just "ran out of gas"... pull your head out of your ass.
Like Froch punching him in his face had NOTHING to do with it. That's moronic.
People yapping this "Taylor has been known to run out of gas late". No, he hasn't been known to do that. The only time ANYONE started talking about Taylor running out of gas is when Pavlik KOd him in the 7th. Despite the fact it was in the 2nd round in which Taylor flurried.

Prior to that Taylor was not known as having no gas tank. He was known for fighting overblown light middle weights at middle weight. People were saying Taylor was too lethargic. Now magically everyone who doesn't have shits grasp on boxing now claims that Taylor always had problems in the late rounds.

That's only said to invalidate Froch's win. Nothing more. And it's only parrotted by fools that don't know much about either.
Even if it were true, that Taylor was exhausted, who cares? That's part of being a good fighter - coming to the fight in shape.

What's really funny is that these same knobs talking about endurance all of a sudden seem to forget the importance of the championship rounds (11 & 12) as being part of the true weening process of determining the champ.

Then this guy claims that Pascal was just lulled into Froch's fight. You idiot, that's part of boxing. Are you going to claim you have never heard of ring generalship? All of your attempts to show that Froch isn't that good only backfire in your face, because what you're trying to show as just some little weakness on the part of Froch's opponent, also turns out to be a strength on Froch's side.

It is fun to watch though.... watching you guys try to so hard to take a way a valid win. When you can do that, you try to claim that Froch was exposed.... despite the fact he clearly won both fights.
This BS of Taylor winning every round up until the 12th. Wrong; Froch should have won the 4th and starting with the 6th he started winning rounds.
And, even the rounds Taylor did win, there was nothing jaw dropping in Taylor's performance. There was no domination on the part of Taylor.

    As a side note:

Why didn't I hear these same people crying about the loser just having bad endurance in late rounds when Lucian Bute won?
They were saying things like, "one more round and he'd be done", "Lucian lost - plain and simple".

It's perfect example of a double standard.
They waive away Froch's win because they say Taylor is known to tire (which is a lie, or just an ignorant comment).
They waive away Bute's win because they say Andrade was still going strong in the 12th while Bute was exhausted. That would be an even better example of a guy truly exhausted and not falling because of punch accumulation. But no, they weren't talking about that then. But they are now to waive off Froch's win.

I'm from America (Milwaukee, WI) and I hear that crap stated too much.
Refusal to give fighters from other countries the due respect that they earned in the ring.
Holding one fighter to one standard for fight A; then flipping that standard and holding another guy to the reversal of that standard for fight B.
