haha.. Yeah, because after he lost, he decided to face some of the better fighters (although Winky wasn't natural at the weight he fought him at, Tarver was past his used by date, Calzaghe beat him and he couldn't accept that, Pavlik was ripe for the picking)

It's irrational hatred. That's the only difference here.

If Hopkins being mid 40s matters, then he should **** off - 32 isn't exactly 25 either.

Bernard Hopkins was older than Tarver, and he went in as the underdog against Tarver, Calzaghe, and Pavlik. He shutdown two of them, and was very competitive with Joe Calzaghe. I thought.

Let's spin things the other way. Hatton looked terrible in his one fight at Welterweight, Marquez was a Featherweight who was struggling at Lightweight (Mayweather came in above agreed weight), Baldomir remains one of the worst beltholders in the last 10 years, Mitchell who?, and Judah is a front runner, and it has become fashionable to beat the man. Oscar? Well, he was way past his best days.

Nope. Bernard Hopkins has been fighting the best fighters on the planet for the last 4-5 years, and has never claimed to be the best fighter that ever lived. He hasn't fought for awhile, he is well into his 40s, we can give the man a free pass for fighting a tune-up.

    Now we're comparing 32 to 44

Hopkins has nothing left to prove and he doesn't have any obligation to fight anybody. Mayweather does have that obligation if he wants to live up to how great he says he is. That's the difference imo.

Ornales is a Golden boy fighter who was looking for a big fight and a good pay day. Hopkins feels he needs a tune-up. End of story.

This is among the dumbest threads I have seen on ESB. It makes it a lot harder to support Mayweather in any of his fights when you know his supporters actually believe this.

If you feel it was a legit super fight, then why did you say it was a tuneup in your opening post?

I have no problem with Hopkins fighting a tune up or fighting Jones. What's better, the tune up or fighting no one? Also, he didn't even want to fight Jones. However, it's the guy that people wanted to see him fight the most.

I like both Floyd and Hopkins as boxers, but personally I think they both suck balls. Hopefully deep down the real Mayweather and Hopkins are good men but who knows.
