From the film I have seen, which I feel is enough. I think Rocky hits the heavy bag just as impressive as Liston.

Liston seems to have a lot of raw power. I would say his power on the heavy bag looks a lot more effortless - however he still really banging it. The difference between their execution seems to be with Liston really swinging his hips as leverage to bang his shots in. Marciano, although much more forcefully seems to move (In my estimation the same/similiar sized heavy-bag) and bang the heavy-bag just as impressively. Marciano gets lower and crunches at the bang using leverage from his legs, to his hips, all the way through his swing in his arms.

I'd bet that if they had a power test, Liston could register a little higher on the rector scale. If I can find footage on youtube to show some sort of difference I will.

As for Foreman - nobody hits the heavy-bag the way Foreman did.

Looking at footage of Marciano knocking out his oponents, and comparing it to similar footage of Liston, you might initialy think that Marciano hit harder, before you factored in the fact that his punches traveled a much shorter distance.

One poster who watched Marciano, Liston and Foreman hit the heavy bag said that Liston and Foreman seemed to hit a bit harder but that they wernt as active on the bag.

My guess is that Marciano did not hit as hard as Liston or Foreman, but that it was frightningly close, and coming in from a much shorter distance.

Marciano was a *******. Horrible, horrible. I can't think of anything worse to see coming out of the other corner. Awful.

I can see where you are coming from.

All other atributes being equal he would be the nightmare oponent from the neck up.

Awful. I think the temptation would always, always be to fight him very very fast in the opening rounds, which of course, gets you horribly KO'd in the late rounds. I do rate Rocky lower than a lot of ther members head to head, but i'd want seasoned versions of the top HW's to take him on, it's hard for me to imagine him losing to an inexperienced fighter whatever the physical advantages they have....maybe a phenom like Tyson could do it, but Jesus.

speaking of tyson, he is amazing on the heavybag....

him vs foreman on the bag....

foreman is brute hard clubbing puncher

and tyson to be a sharper more expostive hitter but not as much raw power

You also have to factor in the fact that Rocky used a 300lb bag!!! he was 189 lbs. so pound for pound he probalbly did hit harder than Sonny.

Right, I didn't use that footage in comparison since it's much more difficult to move that sort of heavy bag. But yeah, Rocky did a lot of crazy training things like this.

Foreman didn't train on the heavybag, he killed it.

I seen Rocky on that 280 lb bag and it's impressive but Foreman is just inhuman.

Personally, I prefer to get hit by neither.
