Who Ranks Higher, David Tua or John Ruiz?

Only thing is...Tua never won a belt...but Ruiz some how gets like 20 title shots for some reason and Tua only got one against Lennox.

 

Tua. While the man might not have an the best resume in the sport, he has challenged, and mostly lost to the best, eg, Lewis, Ibeabuchi. Ruiz's career, on the other hand, has always been safety first. He sold his soul to Don King and for that price he was able to be a belt holder for a little while. But he never beat a single distinguished or even very good opponent. His record reads like a veritable who's who of washed up fighters; and he lost every single time he stepped up: Ruiz, Valuev, Chagaev.

 

Tua.

 

Ruiz, he has beaten many contenders and yes he has gotten many shots at the belts. I sure he is not holding a gun to the belts owners. Take the hate to King. ****, if King kept on promising and delivering me title shots, who am I to say no. Ruiz has challenged Lewis when Lewis was around. Tua will get a few good pay days and then call it a career. He can't beat any of these giants. If Peter was still WBC champ, then yes. I give Ruiz a much better chance to beat one of these giants and he actually did, but got robbed.

 

Tua did blow 2 title eliminators in 2 years, then dropped off the map. Tua kinda dug his own grave on that one.

Tua's the better fighter and if you match resumes, Ruiz doesn't really come out much ahead (if at all) despite his titles. Throw in the H2H and you have to give it to Tua. But not by as much as you'd like to.

H2H Ruiz lasted 19 seconds in the ring with Tua.19 seconds!

With the exception of cubex, y'all must have forgotten that Tua beat the living hell out of Ruiz so obviously Tua is better than Ruiz.

 

Ruiz may not have been holding a "gun" - he didn't need to. He had Don King to get him undeserved title shot, after undeserved title shot. Of course he's not going to say no - but it doesn't make it right, or good for the sport. Particularly when you consider the illegal and disgraceful tactics Ruiz was allowed to get away with to "win" fights.

Tua by a country mile. He may not be an ATG, but at least he had talent, and didn't make up for the lack of it by cheating.

 

Based on resumé I assume? Although he's not even close to a favorite of mine I'd have to say John Ruiz. He's held a belt, Tua never did. In fact you can't even claim Tua was the busier fighter. Too much time off to even be close. Head to head is a different story though....................

 

Tua, and not just because of the head to head angle.

Tua deserved most of the opportunities that Ruiz actually got. Were Tua managed the same way he'd have netted at least one title by now.
