Its bull**** Dean broke his hand i n his last fight I know because he told me before the news even got out. the reason why he was inactive is because he was waiting for his work visa to come through He also has to negotiate a promotional contract which is never easy there are a few big wigs after him!
Who is the opponent? Vera would have being class put that **** behind Andy once and for all.Who else is on this card if its on 14th of november thats 3 cards in one week,Its either a feast or a famine guys.
I read in the weekend papers that Macklin was to fight Sebastian Sylvester in November 14th in limerick and Andy Lee was to fight for his EBU Title on the same card and that Hatton and Brian Peters are doing business together and are in advanced talks with team Sylvester Did you hear anything Paddy???
Agreed, i think a big fight is what Duddy needs to bring out the best in him. If it becomes a war i would bet on Duddy's fighting instincts and priceless jaw to see him through
Yeah but i dont think that will be so soon tbh... Andy Lee will not be fighting for the EBU title this time but i would say it would be a good shout for next year
paddy is peters going with a show in dec in stadium that was the roumour in the rinside last night if he doe,s that would ruin any plans for a hyland show there in dec imo
Loving the way Peters is able to work with the other promotors in England at the moment it is good to see. Hatton promotions and Hennessy promotions could we end up seeing some Co promotions between these people next year. For those other promotors to see a Dunne fight in a packed o2 they know that if it is good card they will get the Irish fight fans in to the fights. This can only be a good thing for Pro fights in Ireland and could help the new Irish talent get some more media exposure on other Promotions in the UK.
Tickets are going on sale tomorrow for the Lee fight. Sponsored by Ying Jang beer maybe they will throw a bottle in for everyone in the audience!! Anyway since its in the UL it will have to be someone decent! Paddy can you shed any light on when the opponent will be announced! Is it unfair to ask if the opponent will be EBU qualified!

Andy needs to step up. I think he is a lot better than what he has been preforming at his last few fights. Maybe when he steps up with better fighters his preformaces will get better due to the fighter he is fighting. The next 16 months will be huge for Andy since his defeat he seems to have stalled a fair bit a fight at home may well be the kick start that Andy needs.
Andy Lee opponent named Middleweight contender Andy Lee (19-1, 14 KOs) announced details of his next fight today at a press conference overlooking the hallowed turf of Thomond Park in Limerick, Ireland. The U.S. based southpaw will be back at the University Sports Arena in his native city on November 14th when he takes on Frenchman Affif Belghecham (19-3-1, 4 KOs). Todays press conference at the legendary home of twice European club rugby champions Munster gave Lee the perfect opportunity to talk about his clash with Belghecham, the reigning European Union and French middleweight champ. The Lyon native is rated just ahead of Lee in the current European ratings occupying eighth place with the Shannonsider just behind in ninth place on a list headed by newly crowned European Champion Matthew Macklin. There has been plenty of talk about a possible all Irish European title showdown between Lee and Macklin but the Castleconnell man insists that his sole focus is on dealing with the formidable threat posed by Belghecham in Limerick next month. Ive watched him in action and hes going to be a very tough opponent, said the U.S. based Lee. Hes the current European Union Champion and is coming into this fight on the back of some very good wins. Hes never been stopped so it could be a tough night but Im really looking forward to it. The fight will be Lees third in his native Limerick since making history there last year by headlining the first ever night of pro boxing in the sports mad city. On that occasion Lee saw off the challenge of Argentinas Alejandro Falliga in 5 rounds while in his second outing at the University Sports Arena he thrilled his hometown fans with a final round KO of Willie The Gladiator Gibbs. Since that night Lee has racked up another three wins to take his overall record to 19 wins from his 20 professional fights and the Limerick man clearly packs a punch having registered knockdowns in his last 16 consecutive fights. Its great to be fighting at home again, revealed Lee. It always means that little bit more when youre fighting in your hometown. Ive always got tremendous support from the people of Limerick right from my amateur days they have always backed me 100% so Im always trying to repay that support. Even the week building up to a fight in Limerick is special because everyones wishing you luck and coming up to say hello and its great to have that kind of support. Then on the night you can pick out so many people in the crowd that you know and it really gives you that extra push. While a possible fight with Matthew Macklin isnt on Lees immediate agenda he admits its something hed relish in the future. Obviously that would be a big fight and it would be great if it happened but right now Im only concentrating on this fight. The European scene at Middleweight has really come to the fore recently and outside of Kelly Pavlik the other champions in the division, Felix Sturm, Sebastian Sylvester and Sebastian Zbik are all based in Germany so the Europeans are starting to dominate. Promoter Brian Peters believes that a win over Belghecham could lead to some major opportunities for Lee. We tried to make a fight between Andy and John Duddy for next month and when that didnt come off we looked at a rematch with Brian Vera (the only man to beat Lee to date) but unfortunately neither party was interested. To Andys credit he was up for both of those fights and that shows you his mentality. He doesnt want any pushovers and hell certainly have his hands full with Belghecham because hes a quality operator and will provide Andy with a very stiff test but if he can come through this then Im sure there could be some massive fights around the corner for Andy. Details of the undercard for the University Sports Arena on November 14th will be announced shortly. Tickets for the Yanjing Fight Night priced from 40 will go on sale from Ticketmaster (phone 0818 719 300 or visit ticketmaster.ie) and all usual outlets from 9am tomorrow (Wednesday, October 14th).
