Cotto really wouldn't need Mayweather if he keeps winning. Say he KO's Pac, KO's Margo in a rematch, then maybe beats Mosley if Mayweather-Mosley never happens. Mayweather would be the one looking bad.

So his response is "I don't give a crap". Good response many homosexuals here will relate with.

Before Mayweather retired they had three answers:

    1) Not ready, sorry
    2) New weight welter, wait pleeze
    3) My promoter do business I don't know what say
    *Mayweather announces retirement*
    4) Mayweather running from we
    *Mayweather returns*
    5) I don't give ****, legacy for me come alones

    Logical indeed.

'I can/could care less' is the single most stupid, overly-used phrase there is. It makes no sense in the way its given. 'I couldn't care less' is what these people actually mean.

I think it's mostly because of that, and it's something I've tried explaining before. I also read the whole article and it's not just about Cotto's reply to Roach, it really was all good news regarding his attitude and preparation. The only thing I wish we knew a little more is about his sparring partners.

Cotto ducking Floyd? Get out of here, man. We all know how difficult this fight would be to make happen with Arum and Floyd's egos. Cotto knows this and isn't waiting for anybody to get their **** together

I would love it if Cotto wins this one.

Head still favours Pac for some reason.

Maybe it's because you weren't able to read the whole article that you may be confusing what he means with the "I don't care" quote. In the article he's reffering to how the media may preffer Manny Pacquiao to win so that he can later face Mayweather. To this he replies that he doesn't care, that after he beats Pacquiao they can still fight if they want and he doesn't need other fighters to build his legacy because the sport of boxing is very big. Cotto has always been firm that if Mayweather wants to fight him he'll be ready for him, no excuses from him to not fight Mayweather :nono It's a huge payday and before Mayweather retired Cotto believed he was going to face him, I remember him saying in the Puertorican press that everybody knew it was something that was going to happen down the line and that he would be up for the challenge.

    Damn Cotto is hardcore.

I think the "i dont care" quote was referring to everyone wanting a Pac-Mayweather fight over a Cotto-Mayweather fight.

And then he went and spoiled it all by getting KO by Margarito the walking tin can man.

That's what I'm thinking also, it's obvious Floyd came back to fight Pacquiao, and that's the fight most people want to see.
Cotto already called him out and it's up to floyd to decide who he wants to fight, but imo he'll fight the winner.

Hard to be sure the Mayweather/Cotto fight was going to happen if Cotto would've won the fight, but it certainly was a set back. The important thing is that he's bouncing back from the loss and if he manages to defeat Pacquiao the Cotto/Mayweather fight would be interesting again.
