can you buy a sky box on it's own and then order primetime?

i've never realised sky is so expensive. 17.50 per month plus 33.50 for the sky sports channels.

You can buy sky boxes separately in currys and places like that or even second hand off e bay. Its 17.50 for the basic package then, but if you wants sports too it goes up to 33.50. You should not have to pay anymore than 33.50 per month unless you want the movie channels aswell.

  3. sky is a ****ing rip off

all their "sports" channels are nothing put wrestling and other garbage

if you're not a football fanatic

    then save your money

If you don't subscribe to Sky I think you'll need a Sky card with a number on it to get Primetime, thats how Setanta worked.

Sky sells cards for the 'free' channels for a one off payment of £10 IIRC.

I'm in the same boat as you (except I already have the box and card) and will be trying to order the fight tomorrow, I'll let you know how I get on.

You can never be sure. This guy I know found out UFC100 was only on Sky and not Virgin so he got his grandparents Sky box and plugged it in at home only to be met with the 'no satellite signal is being received' warning. He didn't have a Sky dish at home :rofl:patsch

I've just tried to pay and they've said I can't because my Sky box isn't connected to a phone line. I'm pretty sure theres no technical reason for this, I joined Setanta with no phone line.

Well **** 'em, I've tried to do it the honest way.......;O)

They need to send a code to your box to unscramble the channel.
