To be honest I never thought he was worthy of the World title that he seemed to kind of win by default in the end. Great result against Braithwaite where he boxed remarkably well, but I think he genuinely started to believe his own hype (or Frank Warren's) after that. He was the posterboy for the Frank Warren style of promotion and career management and probably made a nice chunk of cash as a result, more than his talents (a big punch?) deserved no doubt, but he should never have been in the ring with Haye. Kudos to Enzo for fighting the best, but it really was man against boy. After his string of losses, all by KO, he really should get out now.

I suppose it's pointless to tell a fighter to quit if he thinks he still has it in him, but I seem to remember he spoke of retirement after the Ola defeat. He seemed depressed to the point I felt a bit sorry for the big fella.

cant really blame them for being cautious with him after the swaby defeat, but he certainly did waste some good years on the wbu title shite.

As long as I see Enzo again, I don't care. That moment when he gets put down by Haye, wobbles around for a bit and does a little jog back to his corner and the referee is just like ":( Absolutely no way" and stops it is the single best boxing moment I've seen so far. Not because I dislike Enzo in any way or even want to see him knocked out, he's just became a sort of personal favourite after seeing that. And he's a real humble guy.

Was gutted by his last performance. He's better than that FFS! Also wanted to see him smash the **** out of Herbie Hide before he split the scene!

If any fighter should retire its Enzo, he's been punished too much recently and taken alot of heavy head shots .. His preparation never seems right, and recently he's never sold the fact that his heart is truly in the sport anymore. He needs to get out of it now, taking more shots is needless considering he'll never fight for another world title ..

he still feels hes got some left. u can put the ola fight down to gettin the wrong tactics he shoulda boxed an settled for a points win, he was never gonna ko him. he should settled just for the win, especially after a year with only one fight and so many let downs.
in the lebedev fight he was just scared and low on confidence, should never have fought so soon, especially with all the chopping and changing with trainers and all that business wiv joe and warren.
he should fight again, he's young, and can at least punch. he needs to get settled first though.

Thats an ultra positive view Dub, from what ive seen against Haye, Ola and Lebedev, Enzo hasnt got it anymore, or maybe the question should be, 'Did Enzo ever have it at all ?', its ok taking on an over the hill Braithwaite and claiming it as a stellar win but it doesnt convince people at all .... You can make excuses for the Haye fight, Haye was the bigger man, he was the better fighter, you can also make excuses for the Ola fight, his preparation was bad and Ola was awkward but that Lebedev performance was the performance of a fighter that is clearly at the end of the road ..

All for an Enzo comeback. I think if he stops looking for the ko and just concentrates on winning rounds he could be great to watch. Infact, all these people that are asking for him to retire saying they wouldn't watch the next fight? A fighter should continue fighting as long as he thinks he has something to prove and people are willing to watch him do it.

It seems now-a-days everyone is looking for referees to stop fights early or fighters to retire because they've lost a couple of fights..... When did boxing become such a pu55y sport?? A boxer is a trained professional sportsman, they should continue to fight until they are advised otherwise (or they don't have the heart to).

Enzo has the physical attributes to become a world champ, he might not ever get there again but while it is still a possibility he should be encouraged to do all he can to get there.

That's the sort of surreal, machismo that some boxing fans spout. A boxer should continue fighting, even at the risk of brain damage, just because some bloodthirsty idiots want to see him become a complete train-wreck?

Boxers are human beings - their bodies have a threshold and only a limited number of years as prime athletes. Once that threshold has passed, the body doesn't heal so well. Enzo speaks like he's got a mouth full of cotton wool - one of the key signs of trauma to the brain. On top of that, he just can't get his shots off anymore. He is, by all accounts, shot.

Just because he wants to fight and people are willing to pay to see it, doesn't mean he should be allowed to.

If he is volunteering himself.. yes. He knows the risk and is being payed well for it, if there were any concerns for his health he wouldn't be allowed near the ring. I want to see him succeed and believe he should be given every oppertunity to

Listen to yourself man... you sound like a ****ing woman

If he wasn't medically fit to fight he wouldn't be allowed to.

You are way off here, sometimes fighters need protecting from themselves...you are not going to see Enzo succeed, you are going to see him get seriously hurt

Three statements, underlining that you're either a 15 year old, or too stupid to recognise your own foolishness.

1 - boxers are often allowed to fight, irrespective of their physical condition. Two examples - Ali was suffering physical problems before his first fight with Leon Spinks - and the physician lied to the commission so that he'd get his licence. Same for the Holmes fight and look at the state of Ali now.

The second is Gerald Mclellan who, prior to fighting Benn, had a brain scan that said he shouldn't have been fighting. The blows he absorbed against Julian Jackson may have accounted for that damage and Don King had them squashed until after the fight - look how that worked out for Mclellan!

2 - showing some concern for people who get punched for a living doesn't make me a "woman". It's dangerous game, but there's no need to make it more dangerous when you can see clearly that Enzo does not have it anymore. Boxers sometimes need to be protected from themselves - that warrior mentality and pride can have serious repercussions - especially for a guy like Enzo with a big family.

3 - comes back to no.1 - it happens an awful lot, because money's involved. Fighters with damaged eyes (in a circular way, Julian Jackson faced Mclellan basically blind in one eye and Bruno versus Tyson the second time), fighters like Joe Frazier who can't talk properly anymore, Mclellan, Watson, Collins, Owen... the list goes on and on - it's a dangerous sport, there's no need to make it any more dangerous and allow a guy to go into a fight with the full knowledge he can't fight effectively anymore.

McClellan fight was in 95? Amazingly the medical practices and investigation processes have improved a great deal..... because of that fight and the aftermath there is no chance the BMA would let anyone that had any detrimental health issues fight
