don't get me wrong i like duddy but pavlik will destroy either of them.

Its entirely possible, but the Derry Journal is not exactly a fountain of boxing knowledge either. Chavez Jr labelled as "no 1 middleweight contender" is laughable. Fair play if Duddy gets the fight, he gets paid, but gets his ass kicked in less than 7.

 

I thought that was weird too so I checked it out. He's ranked no.1 contender at jr. middleweight by the WBC (not middleweight).

 

I wanted to see Duddy fight Pavlik last year but the Smichet fight derailed that and instead it was Gary Lockett who got the opportunity to have his ass handed to him. Pavlik would have beaten Duddy but it would have been a much better fight than what we got that's for sure.

 

Duddy will never get shot at Pavlik. He had an offer in the past but he wanted too much money. 1 million dollars at least. He is delusional.

I get the point you're shootin' for there, but (atleast at the time, hopefully still now too) John Duddy has/had one HELLACIOUS fan following. The idea was to have the fight in New York or **** if they were smart maybe Boston (might have trouble gettin' Kelly out alive there though), and with Kelly's following too, the gate alone would be massive.

I'd like to see John get a good payday, but Pav will tear him up IMO.

2 average fighters in an eliminator for the middleweight championship. Terrible.
