Bell's star actually grew after the Brown fight cuz he beat Mormeck the following year and Mormeck was riding high at the time. Everyone was impressed with how he dismantled Braithewaite and had become the division's first unified champion in 17 years in the process. Bell was the underdog going in to the first Mormeck fight and he pulled off the victory earning a lot of praise as a result. He didn't fight for over a year until the Mormeck rematch but during that time his star managed to shine bright based on that win. Everyone regarded Bell as the man to beat and rightly so. He was the champion afterall.

?? Gatti and Campas were around forever doing their respective "blood & guts"/"gatekeeper veteran" thing.

Tony Ayala deserves a mention. Tex Cobb, Salvador Sanchez, Briggs is an on again/off again character, Caveman Lee.

Victor Ortiz, although he still is only 22 so he might still become the star he was being hyped up to be.

Curry, Nunn, Tyson, Mel Taylor, and Bowe are the 5 best examples. All great fighters for a short period of time.
