    Not mine.

Money for tickets, hotels etc, want to see more than a one round blowout and some lame-ass undercard.

Not a big puncher, probably below average for a 168lb'er. His KO ratio is nothing special and besides that he doesn't often plant his feet and his punching form is not the best so that alone tells you he can't be punching as hard as possible.

Oganov seemed to just walk him down for long periods until he got busted up too bad.

  4. Good thread.

This could be a decisive factor on Sat night. Carl is famed for a great chin and his style means that he rides a lot of shots. He gets hit but few catch him clean. I think Dirrell's speed and craft could cause him a lot of problems, much like the Taylor fight. But if Carl can use his superior experience and (hopefully) strength and not get too nervous early on, then i think he wears Dirrell down and stops him around 7th-9th.

    Come on the Cobra!!

He certainly doesn't have comparable stopping power to Pascal, and won't throw near as many power punches.

Taylor may even hit harder, tbh.

Yep, he was very shaky starting off against hanshaw and Froch is a lot tougher with an good chin, I think that a round 1 KO would be an nice side bet, you can get 40-1 with Paddy Power.

Dirrell will know about an atmosphere when he steps into the ring with 8000 pissed-up Froch fans all screaming like banshees. Add to the mix, an aggressive, more experienced and stronger Froch pressing him early, it would be very interesting to see if Dirrell could cope.

Not sure how this will go which I think should give people cause for concern. Elements of Froch's performances against both Pascal and Taylor give cause for concern. He is game and tough is Carl but I think this fight will depend on how much of the real deal Andre Dirrell actually is. Speed and skill and amateur pedigree in this instance create concern as well unorthodox elements. I like Froch as everyone knows but if my hunch is right then it may require a career best effort.

Needs distance to get any power and snap in his shots. This kid cannot fight up close and will look to hold and spin off as soon as Froch gets close.
Ive said Dirrell will be competative for 5/6 rnds. But if Frochs in the mood, and with the atmoshere,it would'nt suprise me if he got to this fella early.

Froch within 5 rounds. I honestly think that Dirrell has no idea what he is getting into ( I mean that with full respect) he thinks he's ready, but he's not.

We will see on Saturday. Froch has clearly allowed Dirrell to get under his skin which is not good especially if the other guy is the faster perhaps more skilled fighter.

Olu, has Carl not got amateur pedigree too though?

People seem to write Froch off as a banger but he has a fine jab when he chooses to use it, he can control fights with it

I think Dirrell could wilt under the pressure, the atmosphere, the occassion. Carl needs to assert himself early and the fight should flow his way.

Of course Dirrell could be a genuine huge talent and many Americans seem to think he is. I've not seen anything to back this up though.

Judging by today's events I think it's clearly the other way round. Dirrell bricked it and Frochy just stared at him.

I'm not convinced that he is more skilled. Certainly different skills, Dirrell is faster and flashier for sure.

Carl has an excellent amateur pedigree as well which is what worries about some of his performances when he moved up in class. Against Magee I was in the arena that night as Ajose was on the bill however technically the Pascal and Taylor fights worried me. Great entertainment mind you. I want Froch to fight with intelligence and more. The thing is we really don't know about Dirrell. He is clearly talented but is he for real then Carl could come a cropper. Dirrell has elements that will trouble anyone. In fact the more I look at this super 6 series I think we will be in for some shocks. Put it this way don't be to surprised if their are 2 Americans in the final called Andre.

What happened today. I saw some of the press conference yesterday which made believe he has got under Froch's skin and Froch is well pissed off.
