I'm sorry but Felix Trinidad = one the most overrated fighters in recent history.

He was only in his prime for the Hoya fight. Hopkins was two weight classes above his best and while he was still great Hopkins was just greater and fought the best fight of his life that night. Wright he was still good but past it and Winky is a beast. And vs jones he was just plain shot and 20+ pounds from his best weight.

    Maurice Blocker
    Hector Camacho
    Yori Boy Campos
    Oba Carr
    Freddie Pendleton
    Pernell Whitaker(old tho)
    Oscar De La Hoya
    David Reid
    Fernando Vargas
    Williams Joppy
    Ricardo Mayorga

    Not that shabby.

Hopkins was in his prime. Winky was a natural 154 pounder but was still prime. Yea Jones was shot but atleast he fought more the 3 times in the past 7 years and was fighting at a weight he was comfortable at...... And Tito still did good well early in the fight.... It wasnt a Hopkins or Wright type fight were he was never in it.

:thumbsup:thumbsup Yes i read that post earlier and was thinking of what to say without dissing Tito, but you said it right on. While I didnt want to say Tito was overrated,in all truth he was but only slightly. His resume is pretty impressive, and i think he was awesome at JM,But truth is he was schooled by Oscar and Hopkins, and hes never been questioned or blasted the way Margarito has been. I wont hold the Jones and Winky losses against him cuz he was way past his best, but he wasnt Unbeatable and no way was he ever pfb #1 like an earlier post said. He was an all time great, but I dont think he was the best PR fighter of all time id put Gomez over him and hes about on par with Benitez and Ortiz.

Felix Trinidad is overrated!!?? Really!!?? Umm i respect everyones opinion ...But im sorry, I just dont agree,Trinidad was 1 of the greatest welterweights of all time!! and he also proved to be a force out of his own weight classe,Destroying Vargas and taking his title at 154 and destroying Joppy and taking his title at 160....In my opinion Trinidad Is a Proven Legend,no question

You'll NEVER find a Fight fan more HARDER on Boricua Fighters than I am!!!

But You are DEAD WRONG on this one!!!!

    TITO TRINIDAD WAS THE "TRUTH"!!!!!!

Risked his his undefeated record several times against QUALITY opposition!!!

Not to Mention...He fought Hopkins when HOPKINS WAS A BEAST!!!! And didn't wait til he was a FOSSIL like Oscar and Calzaghe!!! Along with Winky Wright...Something Oscar NEVER DID!!!

And what I respect about TITO more than any other Boricua Fighter in Recent Memory....TITO "TRAVELED" WELL. Meaning, he wasn't afraid to fight (TITLE FIGHTS OR TITLE DEFENSES) away from NYC OR PUERTO RICO unlike the Juanmas and Cottos.

Has over a DOZEN fights (including TITLE FIGHTS) in Las Vegas, even several fights in Mexico.

Hell, If my memory serves me correctly...Oscar has only THREE fights away from the WEST COAST!!!

In ESB...I have been given the Nickname: "THE BORICUA HATER" for my Criticism of Puerto Rican Fighters.

BUT ANY CRITICISM OF TITO TRINIDAD....THOSE ARE FIGHTING WORDS TO ME!!!!

    TITO TRINIDAD IS THE "TRUTH"!!!

THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER LIKE HIM!!!!

Actually its likely Vargas was fighting with a concussion throughout the fight after the two knockdowns, as he doesnt really remember the entire fight after that.

As for the thread.... i dont really think it warrants a great responce. Anyone who can view or did view tito fight can see hes special. Special doesnt mean hes the greatest ever.... but he sure as hell was a great fighter when you combine his will, heart, stamina, workrate and power. He fought very good fighters and managed to distinguish himself from them spectacularly.

Anyone who thinks Tito wasnt special at all really IMO isnt dealing with reality....
