I don´t think we really can compare Abraham vs. Pavlik with Abraham vs. Taylor, at least not in my book. Pavlik normaly is all out war wich might be dangerous against Abraham. Taylor has a good chance of outboxing Abraham for a couple of rounds but when Abraham turns the pressure wheel Taylor will break down in a corner. IF (and that is a big IF) Pavlik fights Abraham like he has fought Taylor he will loose. But honstly it´s a difficult question.
Only because Pavlik won 2 times against JT this doesn't mean that AA would've lost as well if he loses tomorrow.
I know. Styles make fights, but there would be a good indication that Kelly would have his way, too with AA, should Jermain get the job done.
The height difference is significant insofar as AA will find it much harder to impose himself on JT than the likes of Pavlik and Froch. If JT uses his boxing skills and doesn't walk into the kind of wild shots that the rest of AA's opponents have, he has no excuse for getting caught. You're only solidifying your reputation as an AA hater by making this thread by the way. It's just annoying, because then people dismiss your (often quite accurate) comments about Pavlik/AA as hate/nuthuggery.
Yes normally he is but he showed against Rubio that he can fight a more patient fight and control the distance as well that's why I think he would have probably beat Abraham if they had fought (assuming he fought that way).
There was a time when I bought into the Abraham story, but most of what I knew about AA came from ESB hype. That changed when I watched 5 of his fights in close proximity to each other. The Simon and Oral fights confirmed the opinion I formed while watching the other 5 fights. Arthur Abraham is the quintessential definition of the term "paper titlist."
Arthur seems to fight down to his level of opposition badly. Look at how he turned the lights off on Khoren Gevor once he actually started fighting like he gave a damn. I don't know man, I don't think paper titlists dispose of Edison Miranda the way he did.
We'll see what happens tomorrow. I told Landshark and Finn73 that if AA goes 3-0 in the round robin I'll jump on the Abraham express right along with them. This mother****er better lose at least one:yikes
Man I usually hate Booradleys' threads but this was hell of a funny:good Well anyways, what ever happens in this fight between AA and JT Nihilists like Boo will find the way for discredit the out come.:yep
I agree Abraham looks pretty ordinary in alot of those fights, but you get the impression he's got more gears to go and if he needs to put more pressure on Jermain, then he will. He's got the technical ability to do it. I'm not convinced about this new and improved JT. From watching the bits and pieces of the 360 doc it all boils down to eating a bit better(though he eating white bread and jam in that clip) and being able to jump on top of a ring. It might make him keep things going for a round or two longer but even that might be negated by the wear and tear from the Froch fight.
Just because JT is taller doesn't mean ****, there are a lot of other intangibles that will come into play in this fight. They both have their strenghts and weaknesses. Abraham can deal with taller opponents by keeping low, popping them with the jab, throwing body shots, moving and then surprising them with power shots to the head. To beat Abraham you need to be able to sustain a good pace, and move so you don't get clocked with his power punches, for the full fight if necessary. Some opponents did have success early against Abraham by jabbing and moving but couldn't sustain it when they got hit in return. Abraham is conservative with his punches because of his build, he's a powerful counterpuncher that tries to place his punches at the right time, but he has also shown the ability to throw a lot of punches late in fights. If JT was known for his stamina and intelligent boxing, then I'd say that AA would be in trouble, but I just don't see it like that.
