Jermain is about 6' or 6'1" and Abraham is about 5'9" or 5'10", that doesn't mean he has dwarfism, that menas he is of average to slightly above average height.
Hard to work the body of someone getting the home town 'low blow' call. Plus look at the caliber of fighters he has faced for the most part. They were content to beat on his guard because it was safe.
It's true: Abraham had a broken rib after the fight. It was rumoured though that he came to the fight with a rib injury. But I agree, the body might be Abraham's weak point, his chin seems to be pretty solid though he hasn't fought any puncher besides Miranda.
:thumbsup BTW, most posters, pro Taylor or AA or not a follower say it is Taylor's fight to win or lose, depending on which 'version' of JT shows up (how many versions are there?). I think it's quite the opposite. Hopkins, Spinks, Wright, Pavlik, Jacy, Froch - I think we more or less know what Jermain offers: great handspeed, very good power, excellent skills, strongly built body, physical strength, reach advantage, but not going for the KO (lately), stamina issues and relying a bit too much on talent and reflexes rather than tactic and gameplan. The big question how good or bad Abraham will look at 168? Taylor has a style AA never fought against before (that works both ways), but also, he's never fought at full 168. He showed both impressive (Miranda) and rather mediocre (Marquez, Simon) performances lately, most likely drain effects having the difference. But other than 168 being a healthier weight for him, also the opposition is physically bigger and stronger, he has to carry a bit more weight and the punches are harder. So it's really hard to predict how well he'll perform vs. these big guys. Many of us expect him to bring up the explosiveness, power, good defense and smart shot selection, some say he'll be stronger and fresher than ever, others expect difficulties based on size difference and obviously Taylor's style, and I agree with you, JT's style looks really bad for Abraham (and Abraham's slow pace is what Jermain likes.) Can he overcome all this? So many questions... It's really 50-50, but I was bold enough to see whether Boo will grow some real balls after his bull**** talk, but he didn't. Oh well... Good luck to JT and I will obviously root for Double A (or Dwarf AA, or DwAArf) :yep, hoping he will bring up the goodies, therefore winning the fight, something his Armenian countryman Vic failed to accompish vs. King Kong Agbeko. COME ON ! ! ! :happy
Very intriguing fight indeed. If I could place a bet though, I'd have to bet on JT given the odds. 3 to 1? I'd wager a SMALL amount though. On paper it is JT's fight to win or lose, but he doesn't seem to have any of the 'intangibles' left on his side. AA is smirking like he knows the fight is fixed. You see my Tom_Tocca references? Compare AA's pix for this weigh in with the Miranda 2 weigh in against the others from the past couple years. AA is in his comfort zone weight wise.
That's one thing I don't like about some fights I've seen from Germany, the refs are very quick to jump in and protect the home fighter. Abraham got hit with a good body punch, that wasn't low and he clearly felt it, then the ref jumps in and gives him time to recover.
They need to fly Steve "Wake me when it's over" Smoger from fight to fight. I like a ref that is annoyed if he HAS to get involved. I've asked plenty of times about the selection of judges and refs for these fights but no one seems to have any answers. The one thing that could really turn this tourney into a train wreck.
yeah me to i seen jake gucieri fight in cleveland area a cpl of weeks ago it was the second time ive seen him fight that kid has some skill but he really lacks power.
