holyfield was a complete warrior and tyson was a complete beast, they din't need promoters or don king to promote their style. their styles made them popular. the klitschkos are boring, non-charismatic, and hae **** opposition, it has nothing to do with their skin color. seriously, you people talking about these poor mis-understood white champions need to go to stormfront.org where you'll feel right at home. nobody but you is making it a race issue.

couldnt have said it any better JLH, the longer klitschkos refuse not to fight eachother and continue to beat bums, the less fans they'll attract. and seeing as they'll never fight eachother, they'll be quickly forgotten when they retire.

I think it's the opposite. I think being white has helped the Klitschkos. The fans they do have in the states, really seem to dig their whiteness. (of course I'm generalizing here, but I think race is a factor in a fighters fan base)

Sorry, not true. Holmes was a dominant HW but because of his style and personality and post-Ali timing, was never warmed to.

THere are plenty of things contributing to the Klits low popularity in the US, but style trumps nationality/race. Look at Pac or Ademak - their popularity isn't all style-based, but it's a BIG part of it.

The rest of your post is nonsense. They are excellent, but they have weak competition; there's no denying that.

Fair enough, I dont live in europe so I wouldn't know. I just go by where the Klits seem to fight 80% of the time, which is Germany and every couple fights they come here to try and increase there fan base. Which actually backfired in early 08 when Wlad fought Iggy in a mega fight, which he was praised with a standing ovation of boo's when the fight was over.

In America the Klit's have a small fan base, mostly made up of 30 something middle class white guys. They have very little appeal when it comes to the youth, who seem to fall in love with the UFC now adays. The older folks, 40 and up, still remember the days of greats like Ali, Frazier, Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis, and Foreman. And know the Klits are not up to that standard, and probably given up on the heavyweight division years ago.

Your right, Holyfield wasn't, though his warrior mentality made up for it. His fighting style and gimmick alone made him a draw. He actually passed Tyson in PPV sales after his title WBO fight with Iggy.

Tyson on the other hand, was every bit as charismatic as Ali. Even today, people make a point to watch Tyson if he's going to be on a late show or on ESPN, the guy has that "It" factor, something we have not seen since Ali. The Klits are as boring outside the ring as they are in, and it has nothing to do with there skin color. If Tommy Morrison didn't have such as a weak chin, America would of embraced him every bit as much as a Holyfield or Foreman. Tyson just had it all, only Ali was on his level of overall greatness.

    yes he is.. :bbb

and it truly is very sad that fedor is more known and like 100 times more popular for ordinary people than Wlad Klit whom i think is nr 1 right now..
boxing has always been nr1 fightingsport but lack of true fighters and champs has degraded it to a lower level than say K1 or all those cagefights or like bernard hopkins said those gay-ish fighting sports..

    Super Mario is the Strongest

    Fedor is the Baddest

and for those of you who think the brothers have no charisma or character, you need to take a step back and think about just how much of your personality would come across in a fourth language...for anyone who speaks two or more languages, they know that humor and personality are very hard things to express in second languages, let alone a fourth

Have you not noticed that since white men took over the HW division, suddenly boxing is dying, boring, the worst era ever etc etc etc. Who tells us this? The media obviously. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to work it all out.

Please don't make out that one has to be a white nationalist to see the disparity between the hyping of black atheletes and the rubbishing of white ones.

Wrong, it was bad even before both Klits were champ. I have followed the heavyweight division very closely in the 2000's. In 2005 and early 06 all champions were not only from america, but 3 out 4 were black, and guess what, the division was frowned upon just as much, if not more. Brewster WBO champ from April of 04-April of 06 when he lost to Lyakhovich, Rahman WBC champ from nov or dec of 05- until Aug of 06 when he lost to Maskaev, Bryd was IBF champ from sometime in 04 when the belt was awarded to him because Lewis retired till he was beat by Wlad in April of 06.

I didn't mention Ruiz because he is white. As you can see, it doesn't matter what color you are or where your from, the fans want to see action as well be enertained through there personality. I feel only Brewster had an excting fighting style out of those mentioned, and was probably the most popular because of it. Neither Klitschko has enertaining personality, and only Vitali is somewhat exciting to watch in the ring. Sorry, but a gay thumbs up or V for victory at the end of every match, just dont do it for me as a fan, and apperantly others feel the same way.

I don't think anyone is trying to hold the white man down. Were the kids out there buying Larry Holmes lunch boxes when he was champ? When Lamon Brewster beat Wlad was there some sort of parade? Was there huge support for Chirs Byrd when he held a belt?

I know what you are saying. Sadly, being a gentleman and behaving well and being able to speak without saying you are going to eat another fighters children isn't apparently what people want on their TV's.

Television decides what is seen as cool and popular, not the other way round. If there were two good looking black brothers doing the same thing as the Klitschkos, it would be TV gold and you know it.

Do you remember golf being so hyped before tiger woods? 'soccer' before freddi adu? I don't.
