would calzaghe have got more respect if he had lost to mediocre opponents like jermaine taylor, antonio tarver, and glen johnson?

    mediocre compared to who?

if joe had fought these guys he would have been an international commodity - and thats the one thing he chose not to become.

    listen ****,

    I understand just fine.

The guy will never get respect, I understand that and except it.
He was an awesome fighter and people don't like the fact he never lost. If he had lost a couple of fights along the way he probably wouldn't get much **** on this forum cause he wouldn't be on a pedestal. gedit?

    tit.

He would have beat them all easily.

joe could have beat these 3 on the same night with one arm tied behind his back :deal

yet hopkins and jones stank the place out against these guys and nobody thinks it matters.

he was a very good fighter i agree.

but he didnt need to lose fights to get respect. he just needed to fight a proven world class fighter in his prime.

going undefeated and never doing that makes him look foolish.

what you meant to say is joe never took these guys on which is why the people who defend him talk about what he "could" have done.

fighters are judged by who they fought and when - not what they "could" have done.

I don't agree, you never get true respect till you've lost and bounced back. otherwise it's always "the guy never fought no one"

floyd gets judged because he molds himself in the image of great fighters. joe gets judged because he sold his career off the back of an unbeaten record and a faded jones and hopkins.

dont get me wrong i'm a big fan of joe - but call a spade a spade

The best fights for Joe never happened because his best opponents at their prime had names for themselves. Calzaghe only made a name outside of the UK in his last 5 or 6 fights.

what i'm saying is that these guys would have been considered bums when calzaghe had whitewashed them. how the **** did hopkins and jones lose to these guys and not have their credentials seriously questioned.
