Exactly! This is why I can't see how Froch won this fight. He did not hit Dirrell with more than a couple of flush shots. Dirrell's defense was excellent and that along with the clean shots he was landing won him the early rounds. It's that Froch landed very little that prevents me from giving him some of the early rounds.
Hi everyone, I'm a lurker for about 1 year and i think this super six classic is worth my first post. For myself i think the froch-dirrel fight was a draw. I think Dirrel is a better boxer, but I think he lost because he is green. The Champion at home as an edge on the other fighter, so Dirrel to win as to be realy good. And i think he was a better boxer. But too late. Yeah Froch fought a little dirty, but instead of complaining Dirrel should have fought. When he did, he outboxe Froch, but too late. It was a good fight, but I think the inexperience of Dirrel cost him the fight, when it was dirty he was lost, put himself on his knee stuff like that. Then later was good and outboxe Froch. I realy think Dirrel wasnt ready for this fight, not enough experience he was lost sometimes. But he is good and is carreer is far from over. This tournament is gold, i already wait for the next fight. Good luck everyone!
I was going for Dirrell but you got to take that point away for holding, a Draw would of been cool but **** it, I'll give it to Froch. Man that ref was getting fustrated with Dirrell, it was a tough fight for any ref. I'm cool with Froch winning, I mean you're challanging the champ in his backyard. I think Dirrell needed to show more of a desire to want that belt. He was fighting more like he was trying to defend the title instead of trying to take it. I will say that Froch was the only one that really got rocked in the fight. He was on wobbley legs for a bit there.
I felt Dirrell won it as well. But it was a really ugly fight and Dirrell's a major culprit on why it was an ugly fight. The running I can understand, he was keeping his distance from a power puncher and waiting for openings to counter, but the clinching just completely ruined the chance of making it an entertaining fight. That being said, whenever Dirrell wasn't running and was countering and throwing combinations, he was way more effective that Froch who was clearly frustrated and was missing a lot for the whole fight, so I think Dirrell won it. Really ugly fight though.
I felt Dirrell won, and I agree he should have been deducted a point for holding. However, Froch didn't land much at all. How can you give any rounds to Froch when he wasn't effective at all the whole fight?
What about taking a point away from Froch for hitting behind the head or at least a warning for hitting on the break. I said it before and I said it again, boxing is scored on a 10 point system, the fighter with the most points at the end of the contest, barring a KO, wins the fight. Whether a title is on the line whether you are fighting in your hometown or on the road that doesn't alter or impose a higher standard on the 10 point system that boxing is based on. Whether you win by 1 point or 4 points a win is a win.
Anyone knows Sarah's position on this fight. She is a strong Froch supporter. I am interested in knowing her position.
