Should jermaine taylor call it a career?

I'm of the opinion that Jermaine has been damaged goods for some time. He's been brutally knocked out 3 times in his last 5 fights, and according to reports from dan rafael, is being temporarily held in a berlin hospital for a medical review following a concusion and some short term memory loss.

Taylor's got some flaws as a fighter, but this guy has no flaws in terms of being a stand up individual. You'll never read stories of JT soiling the sports reputation. In an era where fighters (even champions) take the path of least resistance, Jermaine Taylor, win or lose, has always distinguished himself as a fighter whose sought out the toughest fights. His resume speaks for itself: hopkins 2x, wright, pavlik, abraham, froch etc.... Jermaine can walk away with his honor intact and head held high. He's earned a good fortune over his career, and can proudly tell his children/grandchildren that he was once the undisputed middleweight champion of the world. As boxing fans we're all familiar with the tragedies and cruel fates that sometimes befall our champions. Taylor deserves nothing less than a happy ending.

Losing is one thing, but the way he's getting Ko'ed is surely not good.

He looked real bad after taking that right hand... he dosn't need more of that.

Jemain had a decent run at MW,,, but he's all done.

 

Im really sick of watching him get hurt. Tonight was just as bad as Pavliks KO.

 

Yes it was. I was geniunly afraid for his well being when he was knocked out tonight and I'm not one who cringes over bad KO's very often, but I could see his eyes didn't look good from the 9th round on and I could see this brutal KO coming. He needs to get the **** out while he can.

 

Oh absolutely. Taylor has developed a knack for getting knocked silly and were not talking about light hitters catching him. We're talking absolute bombers (Pavlik, Froch, and Abraham) hitting him square on the chin and leaving him sprawled on the canvas. I wouldn't let him fight anymore but he's already got another scheduled fight coming up with Ward. Dangerous.

Man, as a guy rooting for Taylor, that was brutal.

If he feels OK, I'm not completely against him fighting Ward. If he loses that fight, it'll be by decision. If Taylor isn't successful, then he should definitely call it a career.

However, how can he pull out of the Super 6 now? Who would take his place and would they start off with his points up to that point?

 

It was so clear to see the tide of the fight changing in the middle rounds. It wasn't a surprise though as Taylor's MO is to fade while Abraham's is to pick up steam as the fight goes on. Taylor was just getting raked by Abraham late in the fight. Bad stuff for Jermain. Just bad. Credit to Abraham for imposing himself on Taylor.

 

It reminded me of when Roy Jones got clobbered by Glen Johnson.

I also didn't like how the doctors there let Jermain stand up so quickly. Usually doctores here in America prohibit the baldy knocked out fighter from getting up too quickly and sit him up in stages. Right here they let Taylor pop up to his feet within a couple of minutes of being concussed. Not a good thing IMO. :verysad

froch just gradually broke him down n then the ref stopped it

 

Yes, he should. He seems like a nice guy and very classy in defeat. If I were his team and family, I would urge him to retire and enjoy life. Maybe after he sees the video replay of him getting starched, he'll do the right thing.

he got koed in an absolute bomb out by pav (he defintly lost alot of brain cells in that one) he was never the same after it

He got koed by the big bomber froch ( taking those shots while tired as hell and dehydrated cant be good for the brain). I think froch took his fighting spirit from him

This last Ko is ****ing scary. He could have lasting problems from this
