If Dirrel tries to fight like that again, he should be kicked out the tournament. This was the big exposure for boxing, warriors of the sport , the top fighters all competing from their division, so why has Dirrel shamed the sport by refusing to fight? did he really think running, holding, cheating and whining would win him a belt? New fans will switch off from the sport because of cowardly tactics like this, the only justice came, in the fact Dirrel already lost and he hasnt even had 20 fights, thats pretty laughable. Do American's condone this behaviour? I know American's are never happy to enter a fight, i mean look at WW1 and WW2, but surely, in a warriors sport, no one can condone this? Dirrel makes Mayweatehr look like Nigel Benn ffs. Kick Dirrel out, bring Bute in.
When Dirrell did engage, in the last few rounds, he looked very good. Im sure he'll learn from this and not fight like such a ***** in the future. If he does, then yes, kick him out
He looked better yeah, but nothing he had hurt Froch at all, if he had done that from the start, Froch would have eventually tagged him, his chin was so shakey, even under glancing blows. Really though, for the good of boxing, if that is how hes going to keep fighting, boxing doesnt need him, send him to the UFC if he wants to bore people.
No one complained when Barrera threw Hamed down. Froch wouldnt have rabbit punched had Dirrel not constantly held, Froch didn't clinch once.
I dont like that slick style hit and dont get hit, but I have to admit, its better than looking like a ******ed robot that is missing a few brain chips, standing in front of your opponent getting hit while your throwing primative, cave man/ Wild man like punches...
Bute is not someone who likes to get involved too much either but I would have had him in for one of the Americans. Dirrell and Ward are basically the same person.
Dirrel was outclassing Froch, who couldn't cope, so he (rightly) began to make it a dirty, scrappy brawl. Froch's tactics were just as blatantly illegal as Dirrels, difference being that Dirrel got a point taken off, and Froch got away with murder.
Watching from the stands I saw what looked like Frochs legs go in one of the later rounds. But equally I saw Dirrell buckle on a couple of occassions as well. They both landed the occassional good shot. If all the rounds had been fought like the last 2-3 it would;ve been a far superior fight, I'd even have favoured Dirrell to win it. But as it happens Dirrell elected to stink the place out for the majority of the fight. Froch's frustrated bodyslam was the highlight of the first 6 rounds. His holding was the tip of the iceberg. On at least 1 occassion I saw what looked like him fishing for Froch to get a point deduction by constantly slipping and then protesting to the ref he'd been forced down by Froch.
Come on, lets keep Dirrel into perspective here, yes he was way faster than Froch, but Froch has zero defence and Dirrel still didn't land much or even come close to hurting him, and it was actually Dirrels face that was marked up and bleeding, for those tatctics, thats a pretty bad fact. Dirrel has unreal reflexes and speed, but, he has no heart, and very bad offence. I see fighters like him as the reason boxing is losing out to the UFC, and in this tournament , which was so exciting, it's not warranted.
Froch can't rabbit punch if Dirrel wasn't A: clinching every few seconds B: bowing down to suck him off when in close C: prepared to fight Repeated clinching deserves point deducations, think of the amount of rabbit punches thrown, then times that by at least 4 or 5 for the amount of clinches Dirrel got away with. Froch was right not to get a deducation, Dirrel should have got 2.
Thats pretty much how it came across to me watching it on the screen. Dirrells reflexes and speed were awesome, and really impressive to watch.... for the first few rounds. Then as he kept doing it without hardly fighting back, bar the odd counter punch, it became apparant he was there to steal the fight, and stink it out for you guys who had bought tickets to watch it :-(
