WHO WON THE FROCH-DIRRELL FIGHT? Vote & either post your scorecard or explain why...

Dirrell outlanded him round on round, occasionally (in about 2-3 rounds) Froch landed some effective shots, but for the most part he landed nothing of note

I knew we were going to be in for a long night after the first two rounds! Dirrell was looking to stay out of trouble to such an extent that he looked like he was merely trying to survive.

In the 6th, when Froch had him hurt, I prayed for Dirrell to survive the round, because I had money on Froch by stoppage rounds 7-9 and 10-12!

I was surprised to see Froch fight dirty, employing illegal tactics; he had not done that against Pascal/Taylor, even when up against it. I was pleased for Dirrell, to see he had learned how to clinch against Froch from Pascal, but soon became to be frustrated with his ridiculous pre-emptive clinches that betrayed his nervousness and inexperience. It confirmed my belief he was trying to survive more than he was trying to win.

It was shocking how the referee penalised Dirrell but not Froch. I was surprised to see Dirrell come and fight in the last two rounds. I didn't think he had that in him. Had it been a 15 rounder, he might have stopped Froch.

The judges must have been frustrated with Dirrell's spoiling tactics, and rightly so, but Froch made it a dirty, unwatchable fight too, and his aggression wasn't as effective as the judges gave him credit for. Dirrell took it on effective aggression, clean punching, ring-generalship and defence for me, but I'm just glad I didn't pay to see it!

 

Extremely true ! That round was the critical point in the judges' scoring...Dirrell took that round therefore it was a 9-9 round. If all judges made it a 10-8 round for Froch, its just insane.....

 

wtf! froch won that fight. direll ran like a *****,whined like a ***** pre during and post fight,just more american pissing and moaning as per usual! 2 down 1 to go.

 

Exactly. I'm not sure how Froch can be seen to win this. Loads of ineffective aggression, as much as his will to win was admirable.

 

It was blatantly 9-9.

 

I had Dirrell up by a point. I thought that the fight was close and that a point or two could have swung it. I thought that the point deduction though was horrible. I thought that Froch should have lost several points for as dirty as he fought last night. That hip toss he threw on Dirrell was terrible and should have resulted in an automatic point deduction.

 

Horrible fight to watch, correct result. How the hell did Dirrel think he was going to win running backwards around the ring, even the ref was getting really pissed with him holding, running, falling over every 30 sec's.
I have never seen a fighter just drop to the canvas so many times, on a few occasions all Frosh did was twich and Dirrel fell over, kinda reminded me of those goats with the startle comlplex, for those that have not seen this, they are small goats and when ya jump or shout at em they fall over (genetic defect apparantly).

First of all i scored it 116-113 to froch. although there was one round that could have gone to dirrell.
here's my round by round scoring:

R10: Froch (10-8 with deduction)

overall, it was a pretty **** fight, with Dirrell being to unwilling to trade and being content to hold for much of the contest in an attempt to steal a decision. for this holding he was rightly decucted a point in the 10th, although arguably Froch could also have had a point deducted for rough-house tactics. the reason i think this didn't happen was because of Dirrell's mistake in pissing off the referee by bitching about legitimate shots, which possibly made the referee ignore when Froch employed dubious tactics himself.

The fight was as lacklustre as it was mainly due to the sheer negativity brought into the ring by both fighters, but mainly Dirrell, who had the tools to trouble Froch (blistering speed, and fancy footwork) but who only seemed to come out of his shell after the point deduction (the 11th round being testament to this). One thing is for sure though, Dirrell won't be able to do the same in his next fight with Arthur Abraham, as he will likely get caught with a similar shot to the one inflicted upon Jermain Taylor, however he does have better speed than taylor and therefore may find it easier to decision the at times too ponderous Abraham.
Froch will also face a different type of match up in his next fight with the accomplished and perhaps slightly favoured Mikkel Kessler. but on thing is for sure the respective styles of Froch and Kessler will make for a much more exciting fight than this mornings offerings.

Oh and another point, for those that are using the Dirrell was robbed argument just listen to the commentators who had Dirrell winning the fight. one thing i have to mention is that at about the 8th round both Thaxton and the other commentator (John Rawless or something) claimed to have Froch up by 2 rounds, and yet at the start of the 11th Dirrell was leading by more than a point (despite the deduction). Strange if you ask me that Dirrell can pick up five points in 2 rounds without knocking down Froch as well as the fact that he had a point taken away from himself. so in other words don't put too much merit into the pretty shocking commentary. Oh and Jim Rosenthal's opinion also shouldn't be seen as gospel considering he is better suited to analyisng Formula 1.
Steve Bunce may at times be a bit of a loudmouthed **** but he had the right result.

 

I had it 115-114 for Dirrel. It seemed to me that Dirrel could've won (more convincingly) had he opened up more. The 11th went very well for him.

when I scored it yesterday I had 115-113 for Froch. I think I tried to get Dirrell the benifit of the doubt most the time on the second scoring.

On another note, I would have taken a point from Dirrell in the 6th for holding, that round was just insaine, suprised it took till the 10th. Also he needs to get better shoes, seems like he has some traction problems.
