Dirrell showed potential in that he had some flashes of Mayweather defense technique, constantly moving back quickly as soon as Froch in the slightest looked like coming forward. Also similar a little bit to Hopkiins in his switching from direction to direction left to right. But he hardly threw anything himself. It was like Holyfield v Valuev in a way. Dirrell appeared weak and petrified, using the full catalogue of dirty tactics. Putting his head down up close, holding and leaning on and going to ground much too easy. He often landed one or two of the cleaner blows of the round but was outworked simply by Froch coming forward and throwing big shots and roughing him on the inside even though he landed less cleanly. Dirrell let himself be outworked, with his skillset he could have won clearly but Froch won it on aggression and initiation. It could've gone either way and so a SD for the champion I believe fair.
1. He landed more - not many many more. 2. His punches were less forceful on average than Froch's. 3. Very wrong. He had only one meaningful punch in the entire fight. Froch had four or five.
As I said: Dirrell landed one meaningful punch in the entire fight. Basically if he'd got the verdict it would have been a travesty. Nobody wants to watch that ****. He has the potential yeah, but if you think that kind of performance deserves a victory you are wired to the moon.
There were a few rounds were what you wrote is true. One round where it looked like Direll could simply open up and KO Froch. Problem is he didnt do that in every round, so as a whole he did connect more and more cleanly but round by round the fight was even and the point deduction cost him a fight.
The latest and largest poll has it 40% to Froch and 60% to Direll now if we made a poll with only those who watched the fight you would have 60% Froch and 40% DFirrell.
No one argue he should go toe toe with him. But he was running like you have never seen anyone before. Tell me one boxer that run as much as him in a boxing match? Name me one fighter that literally ran from one side of the ring to the other everytime the guy remotely about to touch him? In a few exchange? There was hardly any punches thrown to be considered a fight until the end. Dirrell is much faster than Froch. What can Froch do if the guy comes in and throw a few punches and run away? So all these he hit him more and stuff... well might as well give the fight to Dirrell if he is allowed to do that all night.
If you made a poll of people who watched the fight, and excluded English ****-bags from the poll it would be 100% for Dirrell
I don't think Americans deserve the widely held stereotype of stupidity. I like Americans, especially those with impeccable dental health.
