i bought the fights and the commentators were really praising Dirrell, great footwork, so elusive. I agreed, boxing is an art. Its about respecting your opponent as well, so hes not gonna let himself get manouvered into a corner and be pummelled. He landed some great shots also. Quickest jab ive ever seen...i really warmed to him during the fight.
I fall into the latter catagory of Ex Fighter turned judge. The thread starter is correct though. Not just that but corruption is rife. WHich is why I don't judge anymore
The irony is that Dirrell is clearly a super skillful fighter who would have won had he been willing to use his skills more often instead of running round the ring like a track star and holding like John Ruiz
You`d be grumpy if your city was being overrun by Irish immigrants, something had to be done, civilization was crumbling.
The largest poll has 70%+ giving the verdict to Dirrell, and less than 30% to Froch. That is more than a 2 to 1 ratio of people who thought Dirrell won relative to those who thought Froch won.
yeah but it really depends on the ratio of who is american and who is british. i guarantee more american's think dirrell won. and more brits think froch one. and i'm pretty sure this site is frequented by more american's than brits. so there are going to be more people who think a miscarriage of justice has occured
I found a Q&A with Kenny Bayless rather interesting (I went googling cuz I respect the hell out of the guy as a good ref). -------- JA What kind of training is needed to be a referee? KB You have to know the rules. I walked around dressing rooms and learned what other referees did and picked it up. http://www.mightygloves.com/2009/08/the_man_in_the_middlekenny_bay.html -------- Now this is likely edited, but seriously... baseball, football, hockey refs all go through hell for their jobs and are under constant srutiny. Some aspects of our sport are a joke and judges/refs is one of them. You're a good judge/ref only if you happen to take it upon yourself to be - if you aren't, it doesn't seem to matter.
You have to be ****ing kidding me. Dirrell landed WAY more. Dirrell rocked Froch twice in the fight...and continuously snapped his head back with his jab and straight leads (with either hand). Froch landed maybe 4 or 5 clean shots the entire night...Dirrell landed clean as day almost every time he decided to throw. atsch
