They actually seemed like pretty nice respectful people. They showed taylor a lot of respect, not much booing at all. I had a different view before, the one fight I was watching in germany was Wlad Vs. Austin and they were booing the national anthem and everything, last night was the complete opposite.
When Austin fought Wlad, the regards for the US under Bush was at an all - time low in Germany...for many good reasons. I met Americans who traveled to Europe at the time and often claimed to be Canadian, because they didn't want to be associated with the US. Germans are usually respectful to foreign athletes, Lamon Brewster was very popular here after he beat Krasniqi. Boxers with class like Brewster, Eddie Chambers, Taylor are liked by Germans.
The German crowd is always respectful. There are some moments when non-German fans turn up, but the respect is there most of the time. When Dirrell entered the Nottingham Arena, everybody was booing. When Taylor entered, there were some boos, but also cheer and applaud from the crowd when he was announced, and huge support when he got back up from the nasty KO. People often criticize the German crowd for not being very passionate, but that's how they do it, and there's always respect.
Spot on - usually the US citizens are respected, despite many political differences (firearms, many leftovers from the Bush administration, ...)
Ahem...polls in Germany have shown that 94% of the population were against Bush policies. Bush is seen as the worst world leader of the past 20 years here.
Yes, very sad story. It is easy to be against war if you are secure and nobody directs planes into your cities. Deep inside we Germans are very grateful that someone else cares for the global security.

If a fighter comes and runs his mouth how he's going to kill the German based fighter then this makes the rounds in the German tabloids. Most fighters that come to Germany are very respectful though and usually the crowd honors that. Haye will get booed but I guess he's not coming to make friends.
No, he's not. He was in office less than a year ago. That's not "long gone" by any stretch of the imagination. Which war? He just canceled the deployment of several thousand troops to Iraq, and nothing concrete has yet been decided about Afghanistan. The only people pushing for the expansion of that war are the military commanders that Bush appointed and the war mongering political commentators who think we should invade, occupy or bomb the entire Middle East. If so, why'd you bring it up?
