Taylor's fight iq is zero. Taylor punched his gloves, never pierced it or when around or through it with hooks or uppercuts. On the rate occassions he did, it worked. To the body he should have been going round those elbows. Taylor has talent but technically and mentally he is horrible.

How the hell can he be exposed every second when his guard is up and he's doing nothing? You can't even hit him except to the body, and I think he's saying if you want to come in and hit to the body...be my guest. It gives him a chance to hit you hard.

The best way to beat him is to box him the outside consistently and push him back. You can't allow him to be in position to suddenly strike, if you put him on the backfoot he's not as effective. You also must counterpunch him and take advantage of his mistakes. If you don't you are simply going to be in trouble later in the fight when he begins his onslaught and you can't counteract it.

only guy i see beating him in this tournament is kessler.

good long range boxer with a good chin.

    ward is too fragile.

    dirrell is too cautious.

    froch is too open. :patsch

    taylor. :dead

i thought he outpointed miranda first time round.

that jaw break was one punch.

abs was well unlucky in that fight.

got tagged with a single right hand that broke his jaw. :patsch

I think to beat him you have to remain exceptionally discliplined at all times.

Find a gameplan that works, and make sure you are able to stick to it.

He doesn't seem the most adaptable sort of opponent, hell, why bother when you are able to win fights the way he has been doing....

Right hand countering will definitely be more effective, not hooking counters - as you would find yourself being countered in return.

It's difficult but there is not much of an alternative. If its in Germany and you just soak up attacks later in the fight or run away...watch your lead go down the drain. You might be able to get away with it at home, but ultimately the counter is also the best chance to hurt Abraham.

I agree. And let's add Bute. Bute would keep away and strike from distance, but Abraham would rush him with fast, hard punches and put him down (and out). And let's add Andrade. Abraham is a very precise puncher and Andrade is there to be hit. If Andrade doesn't rob Abraham of his power by constant pressure before Abraham clocks him big, he's a gonner too.

I still have doubts about Abraham - Dirrell moves his head and upper-body and moves fast laterally/away, which Taylor doesn't do. He's also faster. If his inexperience doesn't let him down again, he might test Abraham more than Taylor did.

Dirrell might be in more trouble himself in this fight on the defensive side of things. Abraham is deceptively quick handed, its going to be a lot more difficult to avoid his attacks completely like he could do with Froch. Froch is incredibly slow for a top class athlete.

Dirrell hasn't got much of an outside game either. He pops the jab but its not as good as Taylor's. He's not got much volume from the outside, he waits for the opponent to commit most of the time. I don't know how occupied or honest he'll keep Abraham.

Dirrell doesn't have the punch variety (nor accuracy) that Taylor has.

Not that it tends to matter much because Taylor will eventually creak anyway :-(

Abraham would be both more and less discliplined than Froch, if you get me. Froch was throwing telegraphed bombs most of the time, whilst being reluctant to really engage Dirrell. As Gaz said earlier, he set himself a few times and never pulled the trigger. Not sure Abraham would do that so much..... would look to invite Dirrell forward more, or really close the ring down - his footwork is way better - then would let the hands go either way.

Dirrell/AA is a guaranteed snoozer too. A big percentage of the rounds are going to be waiting for each other, posing. Dirrell will pop out that flashy but powder puff jab. Abraham will throw a good jab, a few times a round.

When Abraham decides to up the tempo he's gonna miss some wildly, and Dirrell will grab on.

From a Brit point of view:

Froch could possibly punch around that guard I think....

He might even be able to power through it. Also someone who can fight at a distance like Froch maybe able to go to the body and around it. Of course doing so is going to leave him open to one of Abraham's manic outbursts.

In general, I'm sure someone who's accurate and can counter well, might get a bit of joy. AA also seems to be fairly inactive a lot the time and so is possibly asking to be outpointed by a busy fighter (if they can avoid getting knocked out).

First of all to mention two boxers who will comfortably beat AA.

    1. Kessler - Work rate and I think Kessler is also a harder puncher and a better boxer and sets himself up better, over 12 rounds I think Kessler would outpoint AA 117-112

    2. Bernard Hopkins - Again makes any fighter look ugly Pavlik looked unbeatable before bernard did a number on him, again he'll make AA fight his sort of fight.

I think the final of the tournament will be an all european affair with AA VS Kessler should make for a great fight.

A lot of movement, gret jab, punches in bunches and good counter punching. You'd also need a good set of whiskers as well.
