for beating 2 of america's finest super mids in his last 2 fights?

he took on 2 americans with great boxing skills, even though they were both wrong for him stylistically to shine and he beat both.

i scored the fight for direll but froch at least made it close even though direll wanted to run all night.

are american super middleweights that bad that europeans don't deserve credit for beating them?

the fight was ugly but i agree froch does deserve credit for not handpicking his opponents to make himself look good, like many fighters do. I think the fight should have been a draw, because even though dirrel was running he did box effectively enough to warrant a draw. The funny thing about the people on this site is that, the same people who criticize vlad for being boring and unwilling to exchange, are some of the same people applauding dirrel's style hmm seems a little ironic.

I'll give Crotch credit for being ineffectivley aggresive but I hate when i hear the word "ran" when it comes to Dirrell!! He was being more elusive than running!!!

At the same time Crotch never even buzzed or hurt Dirrell!!

It kinda reminded me of a bull fight!!!

What was your score to make it a draw? 6-5 Dirrell with one round even? Which round did you score even?

Froch doesn't deserve any credit for his latest fight... of course that doesn't mean his entire career is bad. He gave Pascal and Taylor hard fights coming out as the winner, now that's the reason why he could enter this tournament as a champion.

I think its the other way around Bro!!! The same people who hail Wlad and Vitali as great elusive boxers who don't get hit are the same who feel Dirrell lost that fight!!!! TRUST ME!!!!

I don't think he won that fight, either. I had it 5-5-2.

Yes, the american SMW crop is pretty weak and no, Froch doesn't deserve any credit for beating Dirrell since Dirrell is green as ****, Froch won a narrow and in my opinion undeserved split decision, and he did nothing whatsoever to show that he could hang with anyone who didn't stand directly in front of him and trade.

When he beats Kessler he'll get a little credit from me. Heck, even a victory over Ward, who is at least more seasoned than Dirrell and significantly less busted up than Taylor would merit some credit.

Sure. He didn't dominate during either fight, but he was the last man standing against Taylor and he did enough to win a close fight - even if Dirrell has the same argument. You certainly can't have a robbery with those scores.

He's not the best super middleweight in the world, but so what? Diversity helps make the sport interesting.

I don't get it , you said he beat two fine american fighters but then you said you scored it for Dirrell... So in your mind did Froch win or not? And does he deserve credit for getting a hometown decision ?

I was really dissapointed in Froch , he has abosulutely zero countering ability and can't really land punches if his opponent doesn't stand in there and trade with him...

People were talking about a Calzaghe vs Froch Mega fight before the dirrell fight, I know now that a Calzaghe v Froch matchup would be a royal beatdown and Calzaghe shouldn't even consider it, it would be too easy for him.

No. He deserves respect for winning against Taylor, certainly. That was a fight that many experts predicted he would lose. He was the clear underdog.

But no, to answer your question, he does not deserve much respect for getting the split decision in the Dirrell fight. That was a fight he was epected to win. In fact, fight time odds were 3-1 for Froch. And he certainly didn't perform anything like a 3-1 favorite. He defended his belt, fine...but respect for fights comes with accomplishment. Few on these boards gave Vitali much credit for punching out Arreola...because that was what he was supposed to do. You don't get credit, in this life, for doing what you are supposed to do.

Why are people so surprised? Froch has been wild and disorganised since day 1. He relied on his raw power and toughness to overwhelm a sitload of C and D-class British-level fighters on the way up, never really demonstrating any particularly subtle skills or craft. His last three fights were all pretty much life-and-death, and either he or the judges had to pull a rabbit out of the hat to give him the win. He's one of those fighters that just has to lose his next fight, but circumstances somehow contrive to keep him afloat. Once Kessler ruins him people will realise that he really was a joke of a champion.

I think Dirrell clearly won. Two judges said Froch won....so be it, the victory did more harm then favors to him anyway. But the point where i lost respect for Froch was the way he talked in that interview after the fight. I dont understand how he could say dirrell and his team "Lack Class", he seriously needs to take a good look at himself.
