    I'll start:

What if Kessler unifies the belts against Froch Taylor loses to Ward, but somehow manage to irk out a points win over Kessler. Taylor having only gained two points doesn't make the semifinals, but leaves the tournament as unified champ :rofl

Very interesting. They should of some how made the winner unified champ because that would be a weird situation lol

Then we will have a rematch between Kessler(or any other winner of the super 6) and Taylor after the tourney.

The tournament somehow loses some of its luster if this happens doesn't it?

Now THAT would be a laugh... Not that the chances were hight, but it IS a theoretical possibility indeed... I can't see how in life Taylor could manage to avoid Kessler's bombs for 12 rounds AND scoring enough on his own at the same time to get a decision, but then even more unbelievable things happend in boxing already...

Anyway, the sole idea of the Super Six is to bring both belts to the finals, so the winner has them both... If the belts leave the tournament, it would become a joke...

Imagine Direll winning SD against Froch (could have happened...) instead what really happened, then losing his next two fights and leaving the tournament with 2 points only but the WBC belt... Now that can't happen anymore, but could have happenend... Further, imagine Ward winning a decision against Kessler, then losing his next two fights and leaving the tournament with 2 points only but the WBA belt... This is still a possibility, never mind how low...

But I bet it won't happen for real... Still 1 % chance remains...

Why? Life doesn't stop after the tourney. And it isn't about World titles, but overall being the best SMW.

:huh I'm sorry, I don't get your logic. If Dirrell had beaten Froch, he would have been WBC champ and have 2 points in the bank...if he then lost his next two fights he wouldn't be WBC champ anymore...same goes for the Ward scenario. Am I missing something?

of course, but some of the prestige of the tournament definately comes from the belts useless as they might be.

    - Kessler has a hard-fought draw with Ward

    - Kessler shuts out Froch
    - Ward UD's Taylor in a whitewash
    - Dirrell UD's AA comfortably

    - Taylor ko's Kessler after losing every round when Kessler inexplicably gasses in the 12th (rumours of water poisoning are never substantiated)
    - Froch loses to AA by decision
    - Ward/Dirrell draw

    AA - 5
Kessler - 3 no tie breaker with anyone with 3 pts
Taylor - 3 tie breaker over Kessler
Ward - 3 tie breaker over Taylor
Dirrell - 3 no tie breaker with anyone with 3 pts
    Froch - 2

    Who doesn't advance?

(Dirrell, Kessler and Ward aquitted themselves well, Taylor poorly, though he has both belts)

OMG... I can't believe I wrote these lines... Must have had a complete blackout...But I honestly can't remember smoking anything even remotely forbidden...

Of course one would have to snach the belt in the 3. round and lose both 1. and 2. round to get out of the tournament with the belt.. mea maxima culpa...

Next try - Imagine Direll winning decision against Froch, losing the belt against Abraham next, and then Froch, previously loosing against Kessler, getting decision over Abraham in the 3. round, thus winning his WBC belt back but getting out of the tournament with only two points... That can't happen anymore, but still was a possibility before the Froch/Direll fight.

And for what could happen still - imagine Ward decisioning Kessler, then losing against Taylor and Kessler losing again against Froch in the 2. round. Then in the 3. round Kessler wins against Taylor thus getting his belt back, but gets out of the tournament with 2 points only, as well as Taylor does with only 2 points too.

Aside of this, there's only one possibility I see, already mentioned by the thread starter, for both belts to get out of the tournament... Very, very slim chance, but still even weirder things happened...

    - Kessler has a hard-fought draw with Ward

    - Kessler shuts out Froch
    - Ward UD's Taylor in a whitewash
    - Dirrell UD's AA comfortably

    - Taylor ko's Kessler after losing every round when Kessler inexplicably gasses in the 12th (rumours of water poisoning are never substantiated)
    - AA loses to Froch by DQ despite dominating him (pulls a Golata); another poster quoted rules that a dq only gives the winner 1 pt., I'm assuming this is true
    - Ward/Dirrell draw

AA - 3 tie breaker over Taylor
Kessler - 3 tie breaker over Froch
Taylor - 3 tie breaker over Kessler
Ward - 3 tie breaker over Taylor
Dirrell - 3 tie breaker over AA
Froch - 3 tie breaker over Dirrell, AA

WTF? AA, Taylor out as 2 people have tie breakers against them? Seeding for elimination round?

Taylor did lousy, has both belts; Froch did lousy but has most tie breakers.

    This is kinda fun.

Taylor goes through because of his win over Kessler. Ward goes through because of his win over Taylor. Tie breaker is a 100m sprint race between Dirrell and Kessler. Dirrell wins in a time of 7.86 seconds.

I think it's based on "cummulative negativity accrued accross all 3 fights" as judged by the Belgian, Rafael and Larry Merchant. Dirrell kicked out.

Or, a la Contender, who can fill the back of a Toyota pick up with 22lb medicine balls the fastest. Most likely, they both hurt themselves during this nonsense and Green goes through.
