The post-prison Tyson (one that fought Seldon) vs. a Young that beat Foreman.

I think Young would have a chance against the "Seldon Tyson", but a chance is what it is.

If Tyson would stay focused,he would beat Jimmy on points. If the post prison version of Tyson gets too frustrated,I could imagine Young getting the decision.

How did that sparring go? I remember hearing that Young got some broken ribs sparring, but he was really old at that time, but I beleive he was sparring with Tyson then, he would have been a pro by then.

I know Evander Holyfield had a interview not too long ago where he said even a nearly 40 some odd year old Young embarrassed him during sparring before he started throwing 4 and 5 punch combinations, at which point he started doing far better.

Tyson was hardly a great combination puncher post prison so this one could have Mike getting frustrated at times.

I don't think Young does anymore than perhaps barely surviving the distance, applying his usual ellusive tactics which both judges and fans found unimpressive. A guy like Tyson would be all over him, and Young would be on the constant retreat from start to finish.

This could be a fight much like Tyson vs Mitch Green. Jimmy Young probably still gets knocked out IMO, winning only 3 rounds out of 12. I think Tyson would get him to the body and stop him later.

ha that must have been funny. Holyfield did have trouble with Chris Byrd after all. young was a tough fighter to deal with.

A bad stylistic matchup for Young. I see him using every bit of his wiles in surviving the distance with Tyson, or maybe even getting dq'ed in puling his tricks..same as if he fought prime Frazier...too much pressure..too many lethal punches..Young would have to grab, slip, dodge, retreat like mad throughout the night with Mike and would lose a decision. He would make Tyson look bad at times, but more often than not he'd be on the defensive too much to score.

Young would take this on points. Tyson would get really frustrated. A prime version of Tyson would probably stop Jimmy late on.

honestly, i see this going the same way as the tillis fight against almost any version of tyson. you had to be physically strong to hold him off and have the punch to gain his respect to have any real chance; young would frustrate him but lose a whole lot of rounds in survival mode

Young would have invented never before seen ways of avoiding getting knocked out and would dazzle Tyson at times...but would spend far too much time on the defensive to score enough points to win. Tyson may have gotten frustrated but I think would have racked up enough points in the early rounds and would have won a solid decision. Too much negativity on Youngs part would have left the judges unimpressed plus points would have been taken away from Young, ala his fight with Ali or he may have even gotten dq'ed.

I'm now more inclined to select Young. He'd make the '96 Tyson miss a lot. It would take a prime Tyson to beat Jimmy.
