To tell you the truth mate I haven't a clue. I'm in England at the minute training with kenny Anderson so I'll ask him for some more info on hannah
UK Boxing: Sexton vs Rogan; Prizefighter Light-Welterweights; Jaime Moore The winner of Sam Sexton's Commonwealth heavyweight title fight with Martin Rogan will be in line for a crack at the British title. The pair meet in Belfast on November 6 at the Odyssey Arena in a highly-anticipated rematch. And the British Boxing Board of Control has announced that whoever emerges victorious will be mandatory challenger for the British title. It was widely expected that the title would become vacant following champion Danny Williams' loss in the recent Prizefighter tournament. But there is no indication that Williams will retire despite the set back, and the Board have decided not to strip him.. However, given his recent form, both Sexton and Rogan will be confident of beating him. Belfast hero Rogan said, "I'd love to get a shot at Danny and take that British title off him. I saw him on Prizefighter and after that performance I know I could knock him out," Norwich puncher Sexton said, "I'm focused on Rogan, but a fight against Williams is a golden carrot for me. I want the British title to add to my Commonwealth crown and I'm going to finish off Rogan to get to Williams." Despite being a former world title challenger and a long-term British champion, Williams appears to be well and truly on the slide. Sexton and Rogan go at it again on November 6 following their controversial first fight. Norfolk's Sexton won it in the eighth round when he forced Rogan to retire with a badly swollen eye, but had been out on his feet earlier in the session. Tickets, priced at £25 (tier), £30 (tier), £40 (central tier), £60 (floor), £100 (floor) and £150 (ringside) are available from: Odyssey Arena Box Office 02890 739 074 www.odysseyarena.com
I had dirrell by a round but its hardly the robbery the yanks on the general are talking about i can see why froch got the nod dirrell didnt do enough to wrestle the title away
Lads, never been to a boxing match before, going to head to the stadium this weekend - there won't be any problems just getting tickets on the door will there? and what tickets should I get? If I don't go ringside will it be hard to see or what? and also, will there be a decent fight on? The lads that most our boys are fighting look really poor. Why is Oisin ***an fighting your man Greaves? Should ***an not be able to pull a bigger fighter? Forgive my ignorance!!!
I was told it would be for a wba international title but that was 2 week ago and we know how things can change in boxing! I was speaking with gary yesterday and he didnt say alexei is off the card so i assume hes still fighting
Don't think its sold out. There are a couple of posters on here who'd know more than myself about it but I'd certainly imagine you'd be able to get a ticket handy enough. Don't worry about not being able to see as every seat in the stadium has a good view. In fact, the one time I had a problem with the view there is when I was on the elevated stage ringside. So just go and sit wherever. There's been talk about the level of opponents already on this thread. As was pointed out bigger names cost more so people need to start supporting these smaller bills so the promoters can make the money to attract bigger and better opponents. I hope you enjoy your live boxing debut at the weekend anyway.
National Stadium Sunday, 18 October 2009 15:48 There were mixed fortunes for both John Joe Joyce's at the under-21 Championships quarter-finals at the National Stadium in Dublin. John Joe Joyce eased into the 67kg semi-finals with a spectacular first round KO of Sean McGuire - a thudding left hook saw the Ryston clubman take the early route to victory. But John Joe Joyce junior of the St Michael's Athy club was beaten 11-0 by Patrick J Ward. Niall Scully triumphed over Pearse McManus and Stephen Carroll edged out Michael Bustard 14-12 in the bout of the Championships so far. Chris Blaney and Conor Coyle are also through to the business end of the tournament where they were joined by Brian Brosnan and JP Delaney. The middleweight last eight match-ups were also decided; John Tighe, David Walsh and Bernard Roe advancing, Roe beating David McDonnell 5-0 in an all-Dublin derby. Defending middleweight champion Stephen O'Reilly, who reached last season's senior final, progressed after Kyle Roche's corner retired their man in the second. O'Reilly dictated the pace of this contest from the opening bell and was 4-0 up when the bout was stopped. Earlier, AIBA world youth champion Ray Moylette booked his spot into the semi-finals with an 8-4 win over the resilient Franz Molamb. Moylette, of the St Anne's club in Mayo, was 2-0 up at the end of the first, 3-1 ahead going into the third and commanded a 6-2 advantage going into the fourth a final frame of an uptempo encounter. Anthony O'Brien was the first boxer to have his hand raised in triumph in the afternoon session, an 11-3 win over Carl McDonald seeing the Baldoyle bantamweight into next weekend's semi-finals. John Meli progressed following a narrow win over Michael Stephens, while Holy Family stylist Anthony Upton, who had Gerry Storey working his corner, saw off the challenge of John Joe Nevin. Meanwhile, the all-Ulster duel between Sean McComb and Tyrone McCullagh went the way the Illies GG club man - who took a standing count in the third after being tagged with a raking right - by way of a razor-thin count-back margin after both boxers finished level at 6-6. Mark O'Hara got the Holy Trinity club to winning ways after earning a 7-0 verdict over Pat Walsh. The impressive Donal Burns, Sean Magee and Tyrone McKenna also won, three results which - combined with O'Hara's win - means that next Friday's 60kg semi-finals will be an all Belfast affair. Meanwhile, John Joe Myres claimed the second count-back win of the day, while Patrick Gallagher completed a quarter-final double for the Gleann club. Sonny Upton recorded a convincing 11-3 win over Niall McFeely in the final bout of the session. Right lads, Saturday night update: Alexei Acosta fights Elvis Garcia, a Colombian with a 9-5-3 record. He's only been KOd twice, so he may be some kind of test for Acosta. He tends to last. Fought a 15-0 prospect and went 8 rounds for the WBA Fedalatin title last time out. Eddie Hyland will fight (I think, and if I'm wrong I'll get a verbal hiding from Don O) Kirkor Kirkorov. A complete last minute job, but not bad at all in the circumstances. 29-24 record. 41 years old, but only KOd nine times. Also a few amateur fights on the night, which adds to the value. €20 for a night of boxing. Not bad at all, ha? Tickets will be available at the door.
There is tickets available at the door and ringside seats are 50 but general admission is only 20 with under 16s going for 10 This is terrific value to see Robbie Long vs Anthony Fitzgerald again is well worth the admission price alone without another fight been on the card...
Doesn't surprise me that Irish boxing is successful at the moment. They get lots of practice on Fridays nights outside of bars. Same goes for Saturday nights. Most other nights too, now that I think about it.
Alio Wilton of Belfast promotions is staging a professional show in the Holiday Inn, Belfast on the 20th November. The Cuban Alexei Acosta is expecting to be boxing Jose Saez for an international title, and Luke Wilton, Micheal Harvey and JJ McDonagh[ making his pro debut] will fight on the undercard. Also a boxer called Nevin[ my boxing buddy who told me all this info was not sure of his christian name] could also be boxing. Apparently this boxer Nevin defeated the late Darren Sutherland in the amateurs, so he must be handy enough, but I can't for the life of me think who he is. Steve Bunce is expected to attend the show. David Hannah lives in Lisburn and Harry Hawkins is training him for his professional debut. Also lads there is a media day at Breens Gym from 1pm onwards this Thursday.
Just saw a thread on the brit forum. Brian Magee is ranked 13 by the WBC. He hasn't been out since a decent brit title win last christmas. Whats the story with him? Why the inactivity. I wouldn't be surprised if I'd already heard what the situation is, or if its already been posted on here, but the memory banks aren't the greatest so I'd appreciate any info you lads have
