I enjoyed reading about Harry Greb, like you, I usually stick to fighters that I can see fight, footage, (& thats still largely the case) but by the sounds of things, Harry Greb was one hell of a fighter & one that should have been filmed at all costs, makes me sad actually :-(
ADDIE THIS IS A SPOILER, DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T WANT YOUR GUSHIKEN EXPERIENCE TO BE SPOILED! (read last sentence) I did a thread about him a while back, basically i was just shocked from the first time i saw him. I was doing this thing, the best 108 pound fighters ever, you know, just looking at the division's history. I knew all the names but had'nt seen the footage. Anyway i'll get to Gushiken, typed him into youtube and for me what i saw was a complete fighter, a southpaw, but a technician. Completeness in a stylistic sense, not a natural attribute type thing. He's quality going forward, he can keep pressure on in a clever, systematic way where he uses combos of hooks and uppercuts, he goes to the body as well. I noticed that he loves going right in to the body with a lead left hand and them coming over the top with a right hook. Then i saw this fight where he boxes on the move, he literally can boxrings around guys, moving circular and just dominating with his right jab, so so smoothe. His only loss was in his last fight against a guy called Pedro Flores who he already beat. Gushiken was dominating for nearly all of the fight, boxing really well, then he got overwhelmed right at the end by his crude slugging opponent and got stopped. It gave me the feeling that Jung Koo Chang would have beaten him. Gushiken didn't have a long career and started late, not the greatest fighter by a long shot in terms of accomplishments, but just to watch Addie, possibly my fave. You might not like him but it's just an opinion thing. Plus the whole thing for me was the shock of how good he was. And i've sort of took the sting out of it for you now.
There's not much in the way of footage on youtube for this guy so I've gone ahead and ordered a 17 fight career set. I trust your judgment, I'm sure he is a very impressive fighter.
Teetos on commision on those career sets the guys got the outside skills of Johnny Nelson and the inside game of John Ruiz
**** you just went and forked out money on the back of my judgement??! If you don't like him i'll feel a twat. Mantequilla and Sweet Pea and i think Sweet Scientist are all fans though so you might be happy with the footage, and AlFrancis likes him a lot also, he has good taste in fighters definitely. Glad i could help, hope you like him.
you always have to go off topic anyway Teeto of your judgemnet i ordered 1 DVD of Yoko just to put more potential guilt on you
I'm all about spreading my horizons anyway, and you're one of the best posters on ESB. If he impresses you, I'm sure I'll be moved also. If only there was footage of him on youtube.
I thought there was a bit of him and yt, let me have a look now. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AI32KKiPk5I[/ame] the rest of that is on there [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWAG_HqSsUA&feature=related[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pUcH2Hgcj4&feature=related[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmk8KSH33JM&feature=related[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmk8KSH33JM&feature=related[/ame] That's all i could find so not really a wealth of footage. Oh and on that best poster comment, ditto.
