Roy tested positive for steroids,Shane for EPO.
I am a long distance runner and know the benefits from EPO.
It allows you to have a greater endurance and be able to not lose too much speed at the last 6 miles of a marathon.I can imagine Shane benefited from it in the last 3 rounds of his second battle with De La Hoya.
Don't know the benefits from steroids IN a boxing ring so no comment on that.
Do you still consider them great or do you think despite their enormous talent they cheated against other professional athletes?

RJJ was great, but using steroids is cheating.

No id consider them both great cuz they have mucho talent anyways. In fact I think Mosley should havelost that fight that he tested positive in. Vargas tested positive and looked like a bull against Oscar in the early rounds but got picked apart later so i dont know if it helps stamina or how much it helps you in the later rounds. If it helped all that much in boxing i think it would be even more prevelant.

Mosley had a massive, devastating run at Lightweight before any of this happened, and has mixed consistently in elite company with lots of success since. Roy's talent was also obvious from day one. Even if you take away some of their accomplishments, their records are deep enough and their talents rich enough to make them great regardless.

If you were going to apply skepticism here, you could apply it in a lot of other places: Should LaMotta be considered great considering his ties with the mob? etc.

The Roy Jones case is dicey. The only time he tests positive for 'something' it's against someone that doesn't matter. His opponent also tests positive. And to my knowledge, they never actually state what it is he tested positive for. The Jones camp said he was taking something over the counter that may have shown up in a test.

Maybe he took steroids, maybe he didn't, but it doesn't really make much sense to me.

What the **** has personal affiliation got to do with how great a fighter is:patsch

I dont give a **** if Lamotta was part of the fringing illuminati that has nothing to do with him as a fighter in a ring:patsch How can you compare that with what Shane mosley did?

We are talking about someone cheating in order to give themselves an extra edge in a fight. That is the lowest of the low!!!

Anyone who cheats should be banned period from the sport, i dont care if it was ****ing muhommad ali, cheating is a ***** move, anyway you look at it.

Jones took Ripped fuel, tested +ve for the richard hall fight.

all also was even more over the limit that JONES!!!!

    http://rossboxing.com/thegym/thegym7.htm

BUT as you can see RIPPED FUELD doesnt enhance performance it decreases it!!!

I dont beleive Jones was a steroid user (he never tested +ve on other fights!)

FIghters experiment taking suppliments ....sometimes without knowledge of the chemistry.

what's in ripped fuel that is banned?? i know ephedra is a no no now, but was it back then??

epo and "the clear" are no joke. you increase the oxygen capacity of your red blood cells (epo) and take the clear, your gonna take leaps and bounds physically.
