Hatton is going to come back in 2010. As you have all heard, he needs a big fight. Manny has been beaten more times than hatton yet he's still fighting, and there are tons of high class fighters above hatton's age that have had more losses than him, and they're still fighting. 2 losses against 2 of the best fighters in the world means nothing. Plus the mayweather fight was unfair, simply due to hatton couldn't get inside due to the stupid referee picking sides, this did not happen in the paulie malignaggi fight, so that's why floyd and hatton need a rematch. Manny has had a lot of rematches so this is not new for high class fighters, and a hatton v floyd rematch would bring in more money than the floyd v manny fight, as their are more floyd fans than manny fans in the U.S. and as hatton has his army of fans behind him. It is this stupid media mentality, that when a boxer get's beat, the retirement card always comes in. So bring on the rematch for 2010, and let boxers decide when they wish to retire, not the media.
due to the devastating way he lost those two fights, I think it best he stays out the ring. You make it sound like the loses were split decisions, fights that could go either way. He could get hurt next time around. If you love your fighter, hope he stays retired.
It's more the fact that he's been consistently "boy'd" at the top level such that it has become clear that he will never amount to anything more than a B-level fighter. He's not going to add anything to his legacy, so apart from money there's no reason to fight on. He also seems to think he can jump to the front of the line and fight the P4P best in the world when there are far better, more deserving challengers out there. Practically, he'd have to take a fight against a weak opponent which he doesn't seem to be motivated for. Also, there's no way he makes 140 in his current physical condition; in fact, I'd be surprised if he made 147 without going through another 12-week camp.
^ exactly .. Hatton tries to brush off the fact that he got taken out in 2 rounds vs Pacquiao by claiming he over trained bbc.com reported Ricky does want to comeback and fight vs Mayweather again. agreed that it's obsurd **I really want Floyd Jr. to comment back and put Ricky in his place.
i love how RH landed right in the middle of the rock star logo. like some halo while he napped. RH doesn't have the right to get in the ring with ANY of the current WW, let alone a man many believe to be the P4P king. he's either dreaming or his bell is still ringing from Pac.
Hattons punch resistance has gone and that was one of the factors he managed to get were he reached. His defensive skills have always been pretty poor so i can see him getting sparked clean out again if he comes back!?
Looking back at pbf fight, I realise that the 147 weight benefitted Hatton- the ref was def paid off/ but Hatton is now way past his best and should stay retired.
he needs to make himself credible fight and defeat JMM first or something **Hatton pisses me off though .. pre Pacquiao fight Ricky was talking about JMM then Mayweather rematch now that he got murdered by Pac .. STILL talks about Mayweather rematch. some things never change sigh
Hatton can't fight at 140 anymore, so the JMM fight isn't happening. Maybe - if sky can drum up a payday - he'll be able to make one of the weaker 147 title-holders an offer he can't refuse. Apart from that, he's got to get to the back of the queue.
Holy ****! :admin If Hatton had any plans to return he should have kept the weight off. I thought he'd have learned his lesson by now.
