i rewatched the fight last night and had dirrell winning by 5 rounds. i honestly feel this fight was not close and if you rewatch the fight closly i think youll see it to

i gave dirrell the first round becouse of a nice head body flurry he landed early in the round it was a feel out round with both guys doing very little

dirrell won the next 4 rounds, dirrell simply out landed froch, also froch would do his little rushes miss every punch he threw and the crowd would still cheer:huh. in the 5th or 4th froch landed his best punch of the fight, a nice right hand while chasing dirrell down, but dont forget that dirrell countered froch a good 4 times with some nice crosses in the same round with a beauty hiting froch right befor froch landed his best punch of the fight

i gave froch the 6th not for body slaming dirrell but for landing some good stuff in close

round 7 i also gave to froch but it was close

8 was another close one but i gave it to dirrell both guy did little effective work and i felt dirrell had the slight edge

round 9 went to froch he landed some good left hooks inside

10 had to be even no other way to score this round dirrell lost a point but he also stunned froch badly

11 and 12 went to dirrell he opened up offensivly and scored nicley

final (at least in my book): dirrell-116 froch-111

*(i watched this fight with no volume, i dont like to be guided by the commentating or the crowd)

You can't give someone the title by that sort of a wide margin when they fight so negatively. Froch was poor, failing to deal with Dirrell's awkward style, but you need to offer more than Dirrell offered to dethrone a champion. Dirrell backed off and switched stance as soon as Froch looked like tagging him. I saw this as a wasted opportunity by Dirrell - he could have won had he pressed the advantage that his speed gave him, but he let a flat-footed Froch off the hook. Even if you give it to Dirrell on the night, you couldn't do so by five rounds.

    I had Dirrell win 115-112.

Ah well, there's nothing we can do about it now apart from letting this fight be a reminder of how overrated Carl Froch is, and that Dirrell is one to watch out for in a few years time.

Well said on all counts. If the Dirrell fight was an off night as Froch has since claimed a couple of times, he needs one enormous performance against Kessler to convince the fans.

I gave it to Dirrell by 2 rounds, but its not the worst decision I've ever saw and I certainly wouldn't call it a "robbery".

You see I'm not a supporter of this 'the challenger must do more' notion. To me this means the champion can get away with doing less, and in this tournament (which doesn't give a crap about who's champion and who's not) it seems belt holders have an unfair advantage in climbing through the competition. Dirrell has now unfairly lost points, whilst Froch has undeservedly gained some, all because Froch was the so called champion and home fighter.

I agree with you to a point, but I just don't think that Froch did less. On the night they were both poor for different reasons. So in a round where both fighters are poor and one is the champion, I would go with him. It makes no sense to me to score round after round a draw. Froch didn't do any less than Dirrell, they were just both not good enough.

Of course, Kingcobra. I understand the situation must be difficult for any Froch's fan.

    I agree.

    Dirrell won it clearly.

can you comment on what dirrell was doing so bad, up to the 5th i was thinking to my self "wow dirrell is simply out classing froch" i mean dirrell would land and froch would miss it was that simple.
froch came on strong from rounds 6 to 9 but alot of those rounds were still close and round 10 to 12 were pretty much all dirrell

After re-watching I struggle to see that Dirrell won any rounds until round 8. The first 7 rounds were the closest in the fight, and I believe Froch did enough in those rounds to win most of them. Perhpas the best work Froch did was when Dirrell clinched with him and Froch usually landed a couple of nice shots in the clinches. Which is of course fair game until the ref says break. It wasn't pretty, but it was effective as this is what caused Dirrell to moan the most. Dirrel had the most decisive rounds, particularly 10 & 11. For the record when I watched it first time round I thought that Dirrell had won by a couple (I never score a fight when I watch live, I want to kick back and enjoy it), but re-watching the fight with volume down etc, I scored it 116-111 for Froch.

Not difficult but tedious. You should be able to relate though since your favourite fighter was clearly the beneficiary of some seriously dubious officiating. Now that was a robbery by the ref! :good Let's hope that Andrade gets a fair shake this time eh? :thumbsup
