Zeljko Mavrovic vs Ike Ibeabuchi-who wins?

The Nigerian is the more proven fighter, although we never saw him against a Lennox Lewis, who for instance Tua lost every round to despite that impressive fight with Ibeabuchi (which i scored for Tua), Ruiz, etc.

I'm not as impressed with Mavrovic' performance against Lewis as most are. Yes, he showed a granite chin, was awkard and made Lewis look stupid at times. But he still lost damn near every round; even when he stunned Lennox, the Brit came right back to hit him even worse with a 4-punch combo that landed flush.

I'd go with Ibeabuchi because he is a bit more proven... however, it'd be interesting to see him fight someone who is not short and who doesn't stand in front of him. Tentatively picking Ike UD. Ibeabuchi was a beast, though his defence was somewhat lacking.

Ike was mechanical in there & Mavrovic has the edge in ringsmarts. Decision bout & I can see the lankier Mavrovic outpointing the guy & Ibeabuchi either fighting stupid or putting in a flat effort. Nice upset kind of bout and this guy is a live underdog against a lot of his more popular contemporaries back then.

 

What did he prove? He proved he could run for 12 rounds? Great skills? I dont think so. Ike on the otherhand proved he could brawl, and he could also settle down and figure out a crafty southpaw, had some willingness to engage to actually win a fight as well, something Mavrovic had no interest in doing in his one and only "real fight" he was in, and what is the mark of a real champion. Mavrovics record is a laundry list of nobodies, worse than Brian Nielson's. Its too hard to come to your conclusion based on his level of opposition.

 

Skills yes, great skills nah. Too hard to pick him over a guy who showed more dimension to his game in my opinion.
