Key word there is "after". Chavez cried during fights, and managed to cry his way to a scammed win over Randall. That's no way a true champion and ATG "avenges" the first loss of his career.

Chavez 9.Laporte (Close round but I gave it to Laporte and Chavez got a point taken away for low blows which in made it a 10-8 round for Laporte) 10.Chavez 11.Chavez (Hard round to score but gave it to Chavez) 12.Chavez So my overall score is 114-112 for Julio Cesar Chavez.
Chavez-Randall II. That was a nasty cut caused by a headbutt, clearly. Had they continued, they would not have been able to stop the bleeding and it would have become nasty very quicky. The ring-side doctor stopped the fight. He said had he believed Chavez wanted to continue he would have let it, but he believes Chavez didn't want to. But Chavez did not tell him he didn't want to. There was no discussion because they speak different languages. The doctor told the ref to stop the fight very quickly. And he said later that the cut was definitely a fight stopper. The rules were followed and Chavez prevailed by a split-decision win. No whining. No crying. No quitting. This type of outcome is not unusual. You must be a Chavez hater to interpret this fight as an example of Chavez crying. Was I disappointed? Yes. Would I have liked to have seen it continue? Yes. But that's my desire to see another bang-up fight which was competitive because Chavez was well past his prime and Randall was a fine boxer at the time. So my question is this: why all the hostility towards Chavez? Is it because he is Mexican? I hope not. Or is it because he is an all-time great who beat the crap out of every outstanding fighter they put before him during his prime? Are some people trying to diminish his light so the light of their favorite fights can burn a little brighter? This is what I think is going on. You know that tactic doesn't really work. People talk about Duran the same way. You know when they have an agenda.
