I agree. It's not disrespectful to be curious as to why a promising prospect should take his own life
I dont mean this to be malicious but i dont care because its not my business. and i was a big fan of Darrens and was very very very lucky enough to meet him, (in which was the best day of my life) top top lad RIP Darren
The thing that struck me reading a lot about Darren at the time was how much of a failure he felt leaving Sheffield when he did and how he stayed for much longer than he should have done then because he felt he would be letting people down. A few fights into his pro career imagine how this was feeling would have been magnified. Add to this that Maloney (quite understandably) would not have let him end his career with all his contract money intact meant financially he would have had worries about what else he would do. When someone is that depressed you can't completely rationalise their thought process because they're not thinking rationally. It is only a hunch but I believe because of the extreme and unsecure life being a boxer is, that depression is more prevalent during and after careers than for the average person. I echo other people's comments that it is more healthy to talk about this horrible situation (and depression in general) than forget it happened.
I was wondering myself.. He was young, had a exciting future... What was going on in his life, oustide if the ring..? If people did not care about him, they would not ask these questions..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Get a grip FFS - They're his fans who are wondering out of curiosity. Don't read the thing if you dont want
:huh You imbosile. I'm not the one complaining about the thread so why wouldn't I 'like it' ??? Your the one who doesn't like the thread so therefore YOU dont read it :hi:
My uncle knew him quite well, and said he had peculiar ways, it was clear that he had his demons and that they won out in the end Damn shame, was really looking forward to seeing his career pan out, seemed like a real nice lad RIP
People are such pussies about this. Go into the lounge and nobody is crying when people are making jokes about Stephen Gateley dying. Yet people are up in arms when somebody just asks if there's any explanation for his death yet? Or is it funny when a ***** dies and tragic when a boxer dies?
:happy NIce point. I made a few jokes about Gateley however if this was a music forum I wouldn't have done so out of respect. The same can be said with regards to this forum however this isn't even a joke thread or in anyway insulting to Darren or his friends/family. All the OP was asking for was a little light to be shed if anybody could :-(
