none of them wanted to fight him. period.
he tried to make the fights, it's no secret he tried to make a fight with Jones, and they wouldn't sign.

none of those mythical american beasts floating around wanted to fight an unknown undefeated guy that didn't have much box-office appeal.

and what's this stupid **** about him moving to LHW as soon as he wins the title. just because he's within 7lbs. of the weight doesn't mean he can or should try to reach it.

dude you are living in some messed up imaginary "reality" that you've made up for yourself.

Woodhall was decent, an ex-titlist but past prime, the rest are pretty shockingly bad and lets not pretend its all Warrens fault Calzaghe turned down plenty of names and twice stood up Glen Johnson

Calzaghe represents more of what could have been rather than what he did. Aside from Kessler, Jones, and Hopkins his resume isn't very impressive. But what he displayed in the ring as far as his awkward style, insane stamina/workrate, adaptability and unbreakable resolve, means there will always be the question of what could have been. He's a dream matchmakers delight as far based on what we have seen him do. Unfortunately the right fights at the right times were never made to see if he would truly shine against legitimate, prime threatning matchups.

I'm with you 100%' I wCalzaghe was a good fighter but fact of the matter is he has a very, very light resume!!!

He has a win over 2 ATG/HOFers but they were 10-12 years past there primes!!

If it wasn't for his RJJ and Bhop fight he would be considered just another good boxer! Take old RJJ and old Bhop off of his resume and there would really be no threads about his "greatness"!!!! rote this on another thread! Seems as if these Calzaghe fans are delusional!!

I have no problem saying it: Joe Calzaghe is the greatest fighter of our generation and an ATG!!

It's funny how no one ever thinks that Roy Jones and Bernard Hopkins never had any desire to go overseas and fight Calzaghe for his version of the 168 title. Truth be told that Calzaghe has always been a spoiler and takes everyone out of their fight games...he's a southpaw and throws a ton of punches. He has a great chin and deceptive power at 168. Hard fight style for anyone to overcome.

Not a good match-up for anyone. Truth is that it was too risky for the reward to fight Calzaghe at the time when Jones was at 168 and Hops was at 160. Calzaghe was an unknown here in the states...there wasn't enough demand stateside and it was a very risky fight for both men.

Both RJ and Hops chose not to pursue that fight!!
