    Low blows...

Mosley was dominated by Winky twice, Vargas beat Winky in an extremely close fight, Mosley beat ODLH, who KO Mayorga who KO Forrest who beat Mosley twice, who beat Vargas when Vargas was shot, but in Vargas prime he did enough to beat Wright who dominated Tito that beat Vargas.

    Like I said.

Mosley, Vargas, Winky, Tito, ODLH were all from the same class, all were elite fighters.

Vargas was easily on par with Cotto in his day, and it's no crime for him to pick a winner. Also not a crime for Cotto to get pissed off about it. I don't see what all the hubbub's about.

In fact I don't think it's completely out of line to suggest that ODLH, Mosely, Quartey, Trinidad and Vargas were a class above Cotto, Clottey, Margo etc. I don't think any of the current top 3 could beat ANY of those guys, now that I think about it. Hell, Mosely isn't what he used to be and he fought an even war with Cotto and knocked Margo the **** out. A young Mosely might just go right thru those guys.

Winky Dominated a shot Trinidad, everybody knows that, its exactly the way we look at the older Mosley dominating a shot Vargas.... we all know the truth...

Yes Vargas got the nod but most feel he lost... he did lose..

all to often Vargas gets more credit then he deserves because of his willingness to fight to the bitter end and usally he was on the recieving end of it...
The heart he shows will always win over fans, but lets not over rate it, showing that kind of heart means teh world to fans but if you dont win the fights your showing that heart in really when you go back to the dressing room that means nothing.... on the records that means nothing..

Vargas is known for his heart.... Good fighter but not elite... he seemed elite at 154 early on becuase there was no real top notch fighters at 154 at the time.....

He was most definitely elite. He was winning the Trini fight and probably had him hurt pretty bad, since Trinidad had to resort to low blows to save himself. He put up a nick and tuck battle with ODLH, and I was ringside for the first Mosely fight and I can tell you there was a definite sense that Vargas was getting to Shane and putting some hurt on him when the fight was stopped. The Winky fight was close but they got the right winner. In what sense would he not be considered elite?

I don't even like Vargas, can't stand gangbangers, but you can't reasonably downgrade his accomplishments and his stature in his prime. Dude was a confirmed badass.

Winky is the only fighter Vargas beat out of all the fighters you mentioned, and it was very close.

Cotto beat Mosley in a close but clear fight, Mosley destroyed Margarito, Marg TKO'd Cotto in a questionable (This was the BIGGEST fight of Margo's life, you have to take that into account when judging if he used illegal wraps or not), Margo beat Clottey (clottey broke his hand), Cotto beat Clottey with a severe cut above his eye.

Mosley, Marg, Clottey, Cotto. Cotto beat Mose and Clottey, and was defeated by a questionable loss, who'm he was cleary outclassing in the first 6 rounds.

There's a big difference in Plaster of Paris covered wraps and wrapping your hands with an extra layer of gauze.

And one similarity-they influence punching power.

Yes, I agree. But covering your hand with extra gauze is no comparison to plaster of paris. What Margarito and his trainer did is ****ing disgusting.

Well, he lost to all the elite; Mosley, Tito, and Oscar. His best win was over Quartey.

vargas got out boxed by ricardo " no amateur background, street fighter " mayorga ( im not hating on him i actually love watching this guy fight and had him beating vargas when i heard of the fight) and ran through by mosley. you dont remember vargas face after the first fight. and for those that dont know cotto took mosley's bombs and left shanes face swollen. cotto is the real deal .miguel cotto is a fighter that has earned his respect and for people of the sport to blast him the way they do is only fueling the fire. keep on talking your feeding the monster, he was a beast before but now he's really got something to prove. he fights for HIS LEGACY, and he will always fight WHOEVER they put in front of him without any questions.he almost turned the pac fight down, and i wouldnt doubt we would be having mosley, margarito, and clottey rematches or a floyd fight soon if it could be. pac will either retire after this fight or go back down in wieght. but knowing floyds money ego he'll still push for pac and as always stay away from the real challengers of the division.

I agree. The problem is when Cotto beats Pacquao will he get his credit or are people gonna cling to small guy excuse?
