What a **** fight. Terrible performances by both fighters. Botha is shot to pieces. Carrion actually did better than expected, and probably would have deserved the nod. But he still looked amateurish and wouldn't have had a chance in hell against the Botha of old. Since they both looked terrible nobody really deserved to win this, I think a draw was ok.

Remember, after his close win against Timo Hoffmann I said that Botha should retire - it was clear to me that he is shot. I was so right, and tonight it was blatantly clear. He should have retired with one last good win then. He should definitely retire now.

How about Botha vs Tua? Who would you favor in the fight?

I don't wanna see it. After tonights shitty performance, I think even a faded Tua would stop Botha in brutal fashion. Botha is too easy to hit, he's slow, no timing, out of shape..

Bring on Tua-Brewster or Tua-Oli McCall instead.

Botha won it was not a draw. It was a robbery. The sport of boxing doesn't need this ****. :bart

you're right, it wasn't a draw. But I thought they announced it as a majority draw in the ring. Don't know why they changed it to a decision for Botha afterwards. Maybe I got it wrong.
Sure, it was a robbery. Not because Carrion looked good, but because Botha looked even worse. But both men looked so bad that neither really deserved to win this..

I haven't seen the fight but hope t odo so tomorrow or so.

Don't put much into this bad performance,Botha said he hurt his hand in the first round nad was clearly unmotivated after Fischer pulled out.I think he just doesn't get up for it unless he has a tough challenge.

Well in his last fight against Hoffman he ko'ed hoffman at one point only for the ref to save hoffman. And ok so Botha didnt win it with much but as they say Carrion didnt make it his. I also read that Botha injured his hand early on. Surely that makes the win more special. Havent actually seen the fight yet so cant comment too much. Three fights and three wins this year, I dont think he is shot. This fight however proved nothing.

I watched the fight and even as a Botha supporter I have to make this perfectly clear for those who didn't see the fight:

Botha clearly let his fans down by putting down another horrible perfomance. Botha came in overweight and out of shape, just as he did against Hoffmann, and got out-manouvered by a very weak amateurish styled opponent. The German crowd, although pro Botha at the beginning of the fight, booed the South African hero badly when the decision was announced. I wouldn't say that Botha is 100% finished, but he should redicate himself or retire. I don't mind seeing old timers as long as they are in shape. Botha should take an example in fellow former champion McCall before fighting again.

According to SES Boxing site he broke the Metacarple Bones in his punching hand in the first round. A fact the crowd would not have been aware of at the time. As for being so far out of shape, he has boxed in his last three fights for the full 12 rounds and won them all. Im not saying he is in good shape and not overweight but he has only really made a real comeback this year. I think he needs some grace to get fully in shape and to retone. Bring on the Hoffman rematch. He will work hard for the one. Or finally get the fischer fight on. If he beats them and gets in shape i think he is on the road back.
    Go Botha!
