lucky it wasnt MRSA. that **** is really tough. scares the **** outta me when we treat patients with it. I hope he finally gets back in the ring. i doubted him before but for the sport when he actually fights he does what you want to see a boxer do. give it his all in the ring. even in his lost he fought to the best of his ability. hope to see him back in the ring soon.
Wow, I had bad vibes and mentioned MRSA in the comments sections. Most people have traces of MRSA but a healthy immunity keeps it at bay. Pavlik had so many fights in a short period of time that the stress could have weakened his immunity. He is still young and should probably just take it easy for a while, pray and get several medical opinions. Sheesh, he may have even had MRSA when he fought Hopkins!
He has been to the Cleveland Clinic for this. They were the last ones to treat him. The staph is gone. He just has a stiff finger now.

Well this sucks for the fans, boxing, and paul williams....but I like to believe people untill proven otherwise.....I hope he heals properly, and KP works his way back into the scene....
Pray that you and your loved ones never get a staph infection. We had a kid in here last month that had an advanced staph infection and a reaction to the antibiotics that died at the local Sutter hospital at the beginning of this week. Bad, bad stuff.
I wish the best to Kelly. 2 years ago he was on top of the world now a lot of people have turned their backs on him. I definitely think this is going to make him a better fighter though. Hopefully he gets better and when he gets back he'll have the hunger and something to prove.
I don't know why I didn't put 2 and 2 together yet, but Kelly's from Youngstown, Ohio. The Cleveland Browns have had 6 instances of staph infections since 2006. My guess is maybe, just maybe, Pavlik went to the same clinic (since they'd specialize in professional athletes), and contracted it there? Or maybe the acid rain's just that shitty there. Either way, it's more than a little strange that many athletes from that region are getting what's usually a pretty uncommon infection. Regardless of the reason, I hope he bounces back. He's good for the sport whether people are for or against him.
I think he was making to look a statement when he chose Williams as an opponent. No doubt in his mind, that is ALL that counts.
I don't think that link exists, but I don't know for sure. He got a cut training for Rubio and it just never healed....
If nothing else, it's still a strange coincidence that most of the athletes getting that infection are from that region.
