Here's one for you Blue Ray

Did a past his peak Marquez show how limited a fighter prime Pacquiao really was in their rematch? Or did that fight instead highlight how incredible a fighter Marquez really was?

I'm referring to Marquez's skills against Floyd. He looked average to me. W/ Pac, he looked good though.

The fact is Marquez was never competitive in that fight. Floyd played around him like a cat to a dazed mouse. It's really embarassing. It comes second to the Pac-dela Hoya fight.

Marquez is a top notched lightweight but not a welterweight. He's definitely not in Floyd's class. Pac however would be more competitive against Floyd. He will give him the fits when they meet. I'm not saying Pac will win but definitely he has the chance of beating Floyd.

Great bigger man beats great smaller man. As simple as that.

In addition, the Mayweather style is too much for the mexican style of fighting.

Marquez: 36 years old, fighting 15 pounds above his natural weight. Hadn't even fought at 135 until a couple of fights ago. You do the math. Floyd is a brilliant fighter, but this fight was a charade. And I said so months before it happened and was proven right .

Shane Mosley would have made Marquez a fighter lying on his back. Floyd with his outrageous weight and speed advantage should have ended things when he had the chance in the second round. His big mouth claimed something he couldn't deliver on. The recurring story of the latter part of his career.

If attributes such as height, reach and weight were similar like they should be....then I think Marquez would have been a little more competitive.

Very difficult for a counterpuncher like Marquez, to counterpunch a bigger/longer armed counterpuncher like Mayweather (not to mention the speed and power he gave up).

In short, Marquez could only take with him a knife to a gunfight.

The fight was basically an exhibition and has no real bearing on how good either fighter is, it would be like Mayweather going to 168 and getting beat by Calzaghe. Floyd would still be considered a great fighter and so would Calzaghe.
