Mayweather is still the P4P no 1 fighter in the world and would beat pacquiao by UD. On defence alone mayweather can beat 90% of fighters out there and the only way his defence is going to fail him is when he fights someone who is faster than he is and has better defence than he has. Zab Judah was faster but you could hit him. Manny pacquiao is not faster than mayweather. The only area in which pacquiao is faster than mayweather is speed of combinations.

I watched the mayweather marquez fight live but never appreciated the skills PBF has on offence and defence and just how quick the guy is. Marquez, before he even threw a punch would either be blocked or set up for a counter. The following video by a youtube member demonstrates that amply.

My prediction for a mayweather pacquiao fight were it to happen would be mayweather by UD unless in pacquiao vs cotto, pacquiao shows he can make cotto miss on multiple occasions with an improved defence. Rewatching the hatton, diaz and hoya fights, pacquiao relies too much on his footspeed to get him out of harms way. Against mayweather that wont be enough with the reach disadvantage and the speed disadvantage.

In all honesty i though pacquiao was the legitimate p4p no1 before i saw the marquez mayweather fight. You have to do something to overcome that great defence consistently enough to win rounds and your own defence needs to be good enough not to get countered and made to look silly. Most likely other elite WW's would have stopped marquez but not many perhaps none would have made him miss so badly and so often.

People really need to look at the way mayweather fights. Everything he does in the ring is based on what his opponent does, therefore if his opponent does nothing floyd also does less. Floyd is the type of fighter who can fight anywhere in the ring (ropes, middle, corners), fight any type of fight (boxer, slickster, roughouse, puncher, brawler), and is ridiculously physically gifted. The final thing is something i saw in the mayweather marquez 24/7 series. Mayweather and his dad were having a competition as to who could pull the most outrageous moves with the rope. Its not particularly impressive what floyd was doing and im sure some other fighters from history could do the same, but whats impressive was why he was doing it. The man was jumping rope like that for fun.

Mayweather is not the #1 P4P fighter in the world. Period. He was the #1 P4P fighter, but then he retired. He came back and made an (admittedly elite) lightweight boxer move up 2 divisions to face him instead of challenging one of the legitimate WWs that were around in his own division. He then outclassed that blown up lightweight, which is not enough to reclaim the #1 P4P fighter in the world tag. Had he beaten Mosley or Cotto after coming back, then the situation would have been different.

Speculating that he would beat Pacquio does not make him the P4P #1 fighter in the world either - he has to prove us he can do it first.

:patsch Showing a video Floyd's defense doesn't make him P4P #1 again. Beating a bloated lightweight does not make #1. Beating a worthy opposition will put him on top again. In other words, he needs to beat Pacquiao or clean up his division.

No matter what the Floyd fans say, most boxing fans and experts recognize Pacquiao at the number 1 P4P.

lol Floyd also made Marquez move up 2 weight classes to face him. Not to mention that Marquez was already flat footed at his weight class.

JMM is an elite at 135 and lower weight classes but he is not ranked above 135.

Pac is p4p #1, but Floyd is better than him, if you follow.

This. On ability Floyd is above pac but on resume pac edges him. Floyd is just the better fighter even though there are certain things floyd cannot do better than manny.

I agree, he went out on top with an untarnished record, and returned and kept his winning streak flowing. His undefeated record and other accomplishments in the ring is what makes him #1 p4p. Manny I would say is second while Marquez is third. Until someone comes along and beat Mayweather, he will remain #1 p4p.
