u big absolute waste Michele Picirillo is no joke seriously, whoever beats him is a world champ and no1 has stopped him as early and as impressve as Moore did. Picirillo is a contendor an ex world champ not poor opposition!! Granted Dzuman isnt great but your pretty blind tbh
I agree, he was spot on, no excuses, he said he got beat fair and square buy the better man, maximum respect to Moorsey for that...:good
moore is a domestic/european level fighter. always has been always will be. if weight was an issue then that takes nothing away from Rhodes victory. Floyd Mayweather will tell you that fight are won 90% in the gym. Boxing matched are not 12 rounds, there 12 round plus training camp.
Please don't underestimate the value of little bodyshots that ryan was throwing from the start. They take the energy away from a boxer. While the pace is hot, the bodyshots were helping slow Jamie down. Patience is a big factor.
Pitter patter shots wonttake effect that early in a fight though man. I dont even think patience was the key really cos Rhodes' gameplan wssnt workin first 3/4 rounds, hence why im claimin moore was weight drained cos Ryan isnt a big puncher and Jamie didnt really take any digs n he just seemed to be done after the first few rounds.
Ryan Rhodes has a decent dig and this is backed up by his 62% KO ratio Moore wasn't weight drained...he may have struggled with the weight, but that is something completely different. He looked in tip top knick, wasn't dry and looked bulled up ready to go...please don't try to take away Rhodes glory with threads like this...as Moore said after the fight, "the best man won". As for the pitter patter shots, the ones to the body that Dave alludes to made me wince 10 rows back :deal Plainly put, Rhodes took on Moore at his own game and beat him, fair and square
That was my impression too. I'm not claiming he was weight drained or anything, because I simply don't know, so it would be BS to say that. But from very early on I thought, exactly as you say, he looked a bit sluggish and was really pushing his punches. Maybe Rhodes simply made him look like that.
I thought Moore was fine for the first 4 or 5, infact I had him about 5 rounds up at the time of the stoppage, but he did just seem to run out of a bit of steam. What that is down to I'm not sure, but he surely didn't have the stamina he had against Macklin. And I don't believe making weight can be easy for him. How do you explain him being a thin kid that made 154, suddenly he's with Kayes and becomes much bulkier but makes the same weight and he isn't struggling? He must be, he has to be.
Ryan really can punch it's that simple!! He looked sensational last night, I just hope he get's a title shot now cos he more than deserves it IMO!!
Cant see him takin a shot off Kermit Cintron like he let moore hit him though. Ryan will have to fight Kermit for the right to fight Martinez, imo. I dont no why he doesnt try n fight Cory Spinks he would have a better shot at winning rather than takin on Martinez
Picirillo is old enough to be Moores dad and was ripe for the taking. Brilliant match making and I am not taking anything away from Moore, he was great that night and has looked a really destructive fighter for a long time but Rhodes was a huge step up in class from what he was used to and was not going to just roll over and take a count every time he got hit. Rhodes out did Moore every where then finished him off at the right time.
Didn't play out like that at all and Rhodes himself was on shaky legs in the seventh round. If they rematched you'd have to expect another really tough, close fight. There's no 'class' gap there at all.
