I agree with you on the fact that Dirrell should have and definately could have done more. However, even though he fought passively, he still did the most damage as far as punches landed. Just because Froch made the fight doesnt mean he won it. You mean to tell me that a guy who is consistantly moving backwards, but landing deserves to lose to the guy pressing the fight, but not landing anything?
Stat wise can be no argument. Froch IMO won on the night simply because he got judges who preferred his agressive nature, a diff 3 judges could have scored it to dirrell. Froch didnt so much win the fight it was more a case of dirrell losing it by ill luck or design.
No, that is important in MMA, not boxing. How the hell did Mayweather achieve the P4P #1 spot then because he sure as hell doesnt press the action. Just because Froch pressed the fight does not mean he won the fight. Props to him for pressing it but he didnt do anything afterwards.
Floyd can give a masterclass in counter punching. Dirrel did not exactly do this, he outboxed Froch but it was hardly Mayweather FFS. How often do you see Mayweather on his arse or skulking around the ring flat out refusing to throw for long periods?
Realistically, Dirrell didn't put a whooping on Froch did he? Otherwise the judges would've had little choice but to give him the nod. The reality is it was a close fight but to expect to win using the tactics Dirrell employed, he needed to do more. Like I said we'll have to disagree. The decision won't be changed regardless of our respective opinions. As a wise man said Lord grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
that was almost as one-sided as a fight can get. dirrell would have had to knock froch out to win the fight. end of story. it was no where near a close fight. this isn't a matter of opinion. if you watch that fight and honestly think froch won, you must simply be a die hard froch fan who can't accept the truth or completely delusional. we will have to disagree, but it's really ****ed for the sport that a completely lop-sided fight like that can still be judged based on opinion rather than what actually happens. it was a massive gift decision for the hometown fighter. these decisions really hurt the sport.
