Why didnt Paulie take the fight with him? i believe Paulie was offered to fight Alexei on THIS card???
Hopefully Phil Sutcliffe and Paddy Hyland can now keep these boys away for a year or two til they season themselves a bit and fight for the irish title or set up a IRISH PRIZE-FIGHTER "THE MIDDLE-WEIGHTS" and scrap the cork show for now and have a winner takes all prize-fighter for the Irish Middle-Weight Title.. Robbie Long Anto Fitzgerald Spike O`Sullivan Ciaran Healy Simon O`Donnell Henry Coyle Jason McKay James Moore or Willie Thompson :bbb:bbb
I can asure you he wasnt...... I was sitting beside Paulie all night tonight and Paulie said there was no such offer as someone else already asked him tonight would he fight Alexei
Eddie has to fight for the European Title in 6 months or so.. ***an....U`d never know what Ois will do next or what weight he will Challenge....Id love to see him against Kevin O`Hara Alexei will be handed handbags for the next year or 2 John Waldron and Willie Casey just need to get more fights more often And i think Gavin Prunty will do ok if he gets out often enough
Gary Hyde said the offer was made and Paddy turned it down because Paulie is injured So just for the record Paulie IS NOT injured and WAS NOT offered the fight with Alexei?
a little known fact about Prunty is he has no amateur background but has a background as a surfer! hes possibly one of new my favourite irish fighters! I loved how he jumped in over the ropes! plus his shorts were the best ones of the night IMO!
And when was Gary Hyde meant to of made this offer???? up until 2 weeks ago it was Luis Garcia on the card and not Alexei Acosta..... So lets say this offer was made:nut..........This gives Paulie 2 weeks to drop down to Bantamweight and fight an 8 round fight..... Makes Real Sense that does:bart:?
I was never told it was Luis Garcia on the card if you go back through the thread you will see i said the minute it came out that luis was on the card myself and Podge said that it was a mistake. If i remember rightly the offer was made over a month ago (before the line up for the card was announced) Plenty of time to make weight IMO so Paulie isint injured? and are you saying that paulie was offered the fight two weeks ago?
I was saying that as an example.......as it has only been 2 weeks advertised that is was Axelei Acosta Fighting and Paulie is in training to challenge for the EBU-EU Title and not to mention that it is harder for Paulie to accept any fights as he still has contract issues with Frank Maloney....But i know 1st hand Paulie is going to have a busy next 12 months
I've got alot of respect for Paddy Hyland He would not and will not make a fight with alexei on the fact that its a high risk low reward fight. Its high risk because Alexei is a bloody good boxer and has shown this in his amateur pedigree (I'm not sure if you are aware but alexei won the 2006 junior world championship and on the way he beat Luis Yanes who that year had won the national Golden Gloves in the USA not to mention Luis knocked out our own John Joe Nevin) Alexei would be the best boxer Paulie has fought by a country mile and the same can be said of Paulie being the best Alexei would have fought Alexei has KO'd all 8 of his opponents if it was that easy to KO guys Paulie would have a 100% KO record too Just remember there are good fighters that arent in the golden cobra stable :deal Theres alot that could have been said about Eddies opponent aswell as Alexei's but i dont see anyone belittling Eddies win. :smoke oh and here is me posting about Alexei fighting on the card dated 5 weeks ago so If i knew it was Alexei its safe to say Gary Hyde did too http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showpost.php?p=4962216&postcount=266
A very intersting debate. Good to have two Irish boxing fans 'scrapping it out' opinion wise. I do think its a bit rich that adam is calling Alexi out on fighting bums when Paul Hylands best win, by a long way, is a 4 pts verdict over a jaded Marc Callaghan who was never that good to begin with. Add to that he got beaten over 4 rounds (and reasonably heavily KD'd) against a Puerto Rican window cleaner. If I might add a personal opinion, Adam, I think you are falling into a Paul Hyland mode yourself. I've had the misfortune of running into the lad more than a few times and he is a mouthy, arrogant ****er whose ego far outweighs his talent (he once told me he'd spark Bernard Dunne clean out inside 3 rounds and he meant it  ) I'm not accusing you of the same traits but you seem to be buying into the same kind of thing. Asserting Paul Hyland would beat Alexie Acosta at Bantam or Superbantam is madness. Paul Hyland was decked and lost to the only puncher he ever faced. And that lad was a no mark, also ran, meant to be a dud you claim a W over. He hasn't any power and he hasn't got half the skill he seems to think he has Alexei Acosta has shown a good power for one and decent enough skills. I've no idea where he will go in the end but I would be willing to wager that he will go on to have a better career than Paul Hyland. Patrick Hyland is the talent of that family EBU/maybe Fringe World level wise. Eddie has heart and will always give value for money. Paul Hyland is another story entirely. Acosta KO Hyland 3 :deal
Paulie too has a great amatuer career, won every irish title since he was 11 til he turned pro... I really think Paulie would have the beaten of this guy...All paulie has to do is avoid the left to the body and out box him smartly.... and you were saying about Alexei`s 100% ko record...Tyson Fury had 1 of those til he went up against a decent Fighter in John McDermott...... But hey lets get off the Subject....The fight aint gonna happen anytime soon anyway
When Paulie fought that LUCIAN GONZALEZ he was giving 8 hours notice that there was an opponent change and i seen the DVD of the fight a few times Paulie got KD in the second but came back to really out beat him in round 3 + 4, Anyone who has seen the fight will agree too that it was a very controversal decision..... Same with Eddies only loss......He had to travel from London to Liverpool by car the day he was to fight Stephen Mullin which took all day to get to and eddie arrived at the arena 20 mins before he was in the ring fighting All the promoters fault really.........
