Silva is excellent also, but Machida really impresses me with his counterpunching and precision.

Silva is fast with reflexes, buts its his athletic ability that impresses and wins fights for him more than his astounding technique.

He throws pretty straight punches for MMA.

Machida's definitely a great hitter though. :good

Velasquez looks to have a greater overall skillset than Carwin or Lesnar. However, both those guys have 20+ pounds of sheer muscle and bulk on him, as well as staggering physical strength.

Right. Lesnar would not get caught in any of the submissive positions Ben found himself in all night. He'd keep control out of Cain's hands with pretty minimal effort. He's more athletic and certainly stronger than Cain but less explosive. Could be really good.

He certainly does. I like Silva a lot.

Machida really impressed with his counterpunching though. Silva counterpunches, but its more simply him being able to dodge and fire off faster than his opponent.

Machida on the other hand, I could see the first time I saw him, he actively looks for his opponents patterns and movement cues, studies his opponents and looks for holes. He also has excellent footwork, and sets traps, walking his men into shots and awkward positions.

He is also very disciplined and composed in the cage, not at all on edge or cagey.

The whole raging Alpha male come screaming and fuming with a sociopath staredown, he doesnt do that.

    Very cool and collected. :smoke

Shogun is going to attack Machida like a nutter, throwing crazy **** from all angles so that Machida can't read him. Then Machida is going to get caught by some crazy flying ****, dropped them subbed! :yep

You're definitely right. Machida is more technical, more of a "timer", whereas Anderson relies on speed and athleticism like a prime RJJ. :nod

I just hope this is the Rua of old..and not the old looking Rua that fought Colman. We shall see..hope it's a great fight.

That he does. However, fighting and beating a 265+ corn-fed white guy that looks like a Nazi experiment gone wrong is gonna take a lot more than pride.

Arreola had brown pride too. Didnt stop Klitschko from going Ivan Drago on his ass

Machida will just keep his guard up, pick off some punches, and either take Rua down when he gets himself offbalance, or catch with a counter and slow him down.

Counting on a wild hayemaker to win you a fight generally DOESNT win you the fight
