If Marquez was "too small" for Mayweather, Isn't Pac as well?

i think the problem is that Marquez never fought that high while Pac has had a couple fights 140 or more now.

 

IMO yes he is. People should remember that NEITHER of these guys belong at WW.

 

yes pacquiao is also too small and even less equiped to handle mayweathers defense. He'll get beat as soundly as marquez if not worse should him and floyd ever meet in the ring.

They are too hot fighters right now so people want to see them mix it up despite the fact taht it's a mismatch.

 

Exactly.. and more importantly Marquez went toe to toe with Pac.. yet looked very ordinary against Mayweather..

 

After Pac defeats Cotto, the answer will be No

 

2 fights i think you ment. But now is 3 fighters at a higher weight when he face Cotto. Now about this thread, When Mayweather fought Marquez, it was the first time Marquez move up in weight that is over 140 pounds in which Pacquiao has already 1 times over 140 pounds and has fought 1 time at 140 ko Hatton. Marquez still hasn't fought at 140 pounds. So sorry man to me Marquez was clearly the smaller fighter when he fought Mayweather.

 

Here's the thing...Pac (being younger, faster and stronger) has adjusted to the higher weights much better than Marquez. He presents much more of a threat to Mayweather than Marquez does/did.

I don't buy this at all. Pac is much faster than JMM, especially the JMM of last 2 fights.. huge advantage. Unlike JMM he has not only kept his power, he has added to it as he went up. 140 is prob Pacs ideal weight right now. I think PBF has slowed down considerably and this will be v apparent if he has the balls to fight Pac

 

It isn't about actual physical size. Its about how comfortable you are at the weight. Marquez started going downhill at 135, Pacquiao appears better than ever at 140, beating the top 140 pounder (who despite being called shot by bitter fans made Malignaggi his *****). If the fight happens and Pacquiao loses, size may play a tiny roll, but the brunt of it would come down to Mayweather's defensive genius and timing versus Pacquiao's in and out offensive style.

Pac has fought at a higher weight against DLH and Hatton and looked good in doing so. Marquez did not look comfortable and is better fighting at a lower weight. There is a possibility he will be too small but he would have a better chance than Marquez.

 

That is true. Compared to Mayweather, Pacquiao is relatively small, the difference is between Marquez and Pacquiao is that, Pacquiao has proven himself in the higher weight division than Marquez. Marquez on the other hand although he won his fights at 135, IMO, he was flat footed and took heavy damage from Diaz.

Also, if you compare Pacquiao and Marquez physical apperance you'll notice that Pacquiao's body is leaner and bulky than Marquez's, hence Pacquiao being a bit heavier than Marquez.

 

Pacquaio has a couple of succesful fights in and around the weight, so he is probably better suited to compete at welter. That said, he doesn't belong at welterweight, IMO. And obviously neither does Marquez.
