by this definition , yes , i am a klit lover. not a fan of his though.
he is not someone who most of people should learn boxing from.
i am not biased. you are.

again , by some of the sources who have louis 76" it has farr 79 " - bad joke.
boxrec had mcclellan 6'2" - bad joke , still has hopkins 6'1" - bad lie.
too many examples for this.pavlik taller than hopkins listed at 6'2.5".
williams probably taller than pavlik listed as 6'1".
i do believe williams is 6'1" - but pavlik LESS and hopkins 5'10" , maybe 5'10.5"
so , maybe louis had 74.5" or 75" , not that i ever seen these numbers.
or maybe he simply had 74" which i still believe he had.
74" for a maybe 6'1.5" is not that bad , just poor , not extremely poor.

Louis listed reach in most cases is 76", but lets be frank, Louis hardly used his reach to the max. He was at times out jabbed by shorter men, and by men who had less reach.

In Vitali case his listed reach is 80", and I for one think its actually much better than that. Lennox Lewis said Vitlai's reach and his were about even. Indeed, Vitali has the record for arm length reach, which is defined from the pit of the arm to the end of a clinched fit. HBO has said 29" and 29.5", and it has yet to be topped.

Anyway, Unlike Louis, Vitali uses his reach to the max, and incorporates more foot movement and angles than Louis did.

Sure, some sources make mistakes, but you really are throwing out all the sources in this thread - six by count, including two contemporary - in favour of a source which has since been corrected in favour of the opposite position?4

Your only source for the 74" reach you are insisting upon is Boxrec which now lists Louis's reach at 76". Do you see why your continuing insistance upon this position looks like the WORST type of bias?

The fighters definitely had different styles.

Reach is but only one component of having a good jab though.

It is a significant component. Seldom do you see a guy giving up a few inches in height and reach out jab a much taller and longer guy who also has a good jab.

    Not entirely fair.

A jabbing contest is one "punch for same punch exchange" where the less rangy man somtimes has the ace up his sleve.

Primo Carnera had an 85.5" reach.

Who cares about reach and jab?! Vit got a hammer right, that is much more important in this matchup.
