what are your thoughts on this? i'll admit i'd never really seen much of danny green until this fight got announced. i watched some of his fights on youtube, the most notable one being his fight with anthony mundine where he was completely dominated IMO. i thought mundines stance was reminiscent of jones, with the low left lightning fast jab, he was like a watered down RJJ for the majority of that fight. now, i know jones has nowhere near the reflexes he had in his prime but after seeing him in his last couple of fights, i think he has improved somewhat & i just dont see him losing to green at all. i dont usually start threads on here to be honest but this has come about through banter ive been having with aussies on facebook who think danny green is the be all and end all of boxin!! haha he certainly is not.
Hope jones takes this one and becomes a 5 weight world champion if roy can win big or even stop grenn you would have to take your hat of to roy, the guy is one of the best ever. Even way past his prime only the elite can beat him
again why should anyone not living in the pan Asian perimeter give a rats ass about this meaningless load of **** zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Im so ****ing bored .... wake me when it goes away please.
if mundine can dominate green for 12 rounds(he almost stopped green by the way), roy jones will stop him within 8 rounds. it should be an entertaining match though, props to jones for coming to fight in Australia! It's good for aussie boxing
I dont care how old he is - I live in Australia and have never had the chance to see Roy fight live and this will be the only time. I have my tickets already through a promoter and i am just praying that Roy makes it through training without being injured or sick. I dont care about the fights significance i get to see my hero from the 90's and even 00's fight live.
Same here. It's easy to be a snob when you **** and moan about driving two hours to see a decent fight when a Ring magazine costs 25 dollars in Australia.
An old Roy Jones is still worth watching , that old dog can still hunt . He gets it done within the distance.
Mundine was very dominant but I don't recall Danny ever being close to being stopped in any fight of his, even when he was delerious with heat exhaustion against Sean Sullivan(?) Roy will most likely keep his distance and be too quick for green - but if Tarver can get a haymaker in then I reckon Green has a chance albeit a very small one.
Both Jones and Green proved nothing in their last fights on that card. And will likely prove nothing by fighting each other. Thankfully it's in Australia and will give boxing down here some much needed attention so at least us Aussie's get SOMETHING out of it
When Green fought Mundine it was at SMW....Greens best weight is LHW.....this is at CW so Green should bring more power to the table without needing to diet.....Green will always have a punchers chance but RJJ should be very quick and evasive.....RJJ good points win
I see it going either of 2 ways - RJJ points win or Green KO win. No way does RJJ stop Green. As for that muppet who claims Mundine nearly stopped Green - pull your head in, Green's never been stopped in his life and the closest he ever looked to stopping was when he suffered extreme heat exhaustion against Sean Sullivan in Perth.
