He is 6'1 and hardly carrying a pound of fat. If he can weigh in at 205 now then that means he'd be losing 20 pounds or muscle and water. I don't advise it. I'm sure Franklin and Silva are quite drained but are able to fight through it.
To be fair though Musashi is a very tough guy with a great kickboxing record and Mousasi detroyed him.
He fought his whole career at 185, really he's only been above it twice; Hunt and Babalu. This is also the reason the only system that puts him ranked high at 205 is guessing; he has one fight against a good 205er. He has the potential, but actually winning some fights in the weightclass should be a requirement.
i have only seen his fight with babalu but damn that was impressive,i cant wait to see him fight on nov.7th on cbs for strikeforce
Mousasi has shown great promise, but there is no sound argument for ranking him number one. There are too many fighters with more proven records at 205 that deserve to be ranked higher. Rua, Machida, Evans, and even Liddell. Chuck Liddell also defeated Babalu. Chuck lost to Jardine, Jackson, Evans, and Rua; but you can argue those guys should all be ranked higher than Mousasi. Liddell does have a win over W Silva. Silva is past his best, but he too would deserve a higher rating than Mousasi at 205. You may think he would beat those fighters, but he has yet to so. I look forward to seeing more of Mousasi in the future, but it will be hard to ever claim a number one ranking at 205 without getting into the UFC.
Sobral was 205 fight. Hunt was heavyweight fight??? You are right that he was 185 but he is skinny, if he's now at 205 I wouldn't like to see him go back down. I think it's been a year since he's made 185. Apparently he is fighting Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou no Nov 7th. I just found this out. Brillant.
