    in terms of talent and skill is he the purest fighting machine Britain has ever produced?

    greater than Wilde
    Welsh
    Driscoll
    Buchanan
    lewis
    Turpin
    Cooper
    Watson
    Eubank
    Benn
    Fitzsimmons well born in England anyway.
    Moran
    Hammed

    Your Honest opinion? It is my belief that every fighter Ive listed accomplished more in their careers than Calzaghe....yes Cooper putting A young Cassius Clay on his ass merits this on that distinction alone.

    :roll:

    Not another Calzaghe thread.

    He isn't even the best British boxer of the past 20 years.

    Thread closed.

    Im so sick of the Calzaghe threads in the general forum that figured I would go straight to the source, and put this in the proper prespective.

    Then by listing all the talented Brits maybe we will get a fresh influx of names, cause Calzombie seems to be the only one these chaps recognize.
    happy to be of service.

    PS, sorry on the Hatton bit but I just cant bring myself to do it, but if you must, and only if you cant help yourself you can add him to the list.

    Kahn has beaten Barrera and kotelnik right now he is one named hasbeen away from equaling exactly what Calzaghe has accomplished:

    Barrera = Roy Jones
    Kotelnik = Kessler win
    Bhop= one more name needed in proportion to BHOP.
    too bad Kahn has no 0. Hell niether does Ottke!

    Firstly how did Watson accomplish more than Calzaghe? And Hamed got outclassed by the first world class opponent he faced.

    Still laughing at Cooper :lol:

    In reality Watsons career was cut short but he competed at a time when their was greater overall talent roaming his weight class should in reality have had 2 victories vs EUBANK a peak Eubank at that. Competed againts greater quality opposition and had the misfortune of having had a career ending injury.

    Exciting talented brash went to challenge the best and ran into a peak Barrera....the Barrera that Hammed lost to is a prime atg opponent..emphasis on the complete fighter and nearer to prime, than any Joe C opponent. BHop included of course due to advanced age.

    Im not trolling .....I honestly believe that Calzaghe while a pretty good fighter is overrated.....and the benificiary of careful matchmaking the only opponent who we can say has any real credentials with which to guage Calzaghe is Hopkins! 44 yr old Hopkins with the tight defense and sparse workrate due to advanced age, BHOP can no longer throw... he relies on defense and smarts. Hell! Jermain Taylor beat a younger/better version of BHOP twice.....was JT better than BHOP no...it was all flurries and workrate.

    I personally don't feel Hopkins was as good at the latter end of his middleweight tenure as he has been since moving up. Only my opinion, and you are a troll:good

    well opinions are like assholes everyones got one,,,,I just think its a shame to lump this guy in as an ATG while not performing on par with some of the greatest Brit fighters who are legitemate ATG and accomplished so much and see the attention and hoopla that this pretty good but overrated Champion gets. He is one of many in a fabricated and weak divison. 168 has and always will be a wasteland for guys not good enough to be middleweights or with balls enough to go lightheavy.

    Calzaghe is the best Welsh SMW of the last 15 years.
